This book is a compilation of chapters on scientific work in novel
and innovative reference that compiles interdisciplinary
perspectives about diverse issues related with Industry 4.0 and
smart cities in different ways, i.e., intelligent optimisation,
industrial applications in the real world, social applications and
technology applications with a different perspective about existing
solutions. Chapters review research in improving optimisation in
smart manufacturing, logistics of products and services,
optimisation of different elements in the time and location, social
applications to enjoy our life of a better way and applications
that increase daily life quality. This book covers applications of
Industry 4.0; applications to improve the life of the citizens in a
smart city; and finally, welfare of the working-age population and
their expectations in their jobs correlated with the welfare-work
relationship.

This book helps the reader to identify how different organizations
in the context of diverse societies deploy their resources and
leverage their capabilities to achieve better performance of its
various labor skills, marketing, social responsibility and
management capacity. Intelligent Logistics is a complex phenomenon
that has become critical for companies to reach their development
locally and internationally. On the one hand, macro-factors and
market structure influence in business competitiveness, but also in
a regional or sector context. The internal aspects and the use of
various business tools contribute to the ability to create value in
an organization. It is of utmost importance to understand the
relevance of crucial aspects in the technological future that
should be known and implemented by the Z generation of its
incidence in the use of organizational models linked to artificial
intelligence. Every innovative aspect in the use of new
technologies for the distribution of goods and services will be
crucial in a globalized world. An avant-garde society will require
improved decision-making regarding Logistics 4.0 and its
implementation in our lives respecting the environment and being
sustainable together with invaluable principles of generating tacit
knowledge for future generations.
This book includes chapters related to the analysis of cultural
differences as a tool to enrich tacit knowledge and make processes
more efficient, the factors that influence job satisfaction and the
value of social capital as a competitive strategy to achieve
productivity and competitiveness of organizations, in addition to
research of the utmost importance to discover the facets of the
diamond with respect to the symbolic capital of the organizations
where Generation Z will work and how it will discover the best time
to establish an innovation ecosystem that will influence its work
trajectory. Industry 4.0 requires a major paradigm shift, since
human capital is a source of competitive advantage. Being
competitive enables to a company, a region, a society or a country
the power to advance in different areas, contributing to the
benefit of a social group, therefore, and organizations need to
make efforts that lead to adding value and generate a competitive
advantage. Industrial applications based on artificial intelligence
can change our lives in just one generation. The chapters in this
book show progress and challenges related to real-world
applications, as well as the need to strengthen human capital to
achieve systemic and comprehensive competitiveness required in the
XXI century.

Building accurate algorithms for the optimization of picking orders
is a difficult task, especially when one considers the delays of
real-world situations. In warehouse environments, diverse
algorithms must be developed to enhance the global performance
relating to combining customer orders into picking orders to reduce
wait times. The Handbook of Research on Metaheuristics for Order
Picking Optimization in Warehouses to Smart Cities is a pivotal
reference source that addresses strategies for developing able
algorithms in order to build better picking orders and the impact
of these strategies on the picking systems in which diverse
algorithms are implemented. While highlighting topics such ABC
optimization, environmental intelligence, and order batching, this
publication examines common picking aspects in warehouse
environments ranging from manual order picking systems to automated
retrieval systems. This book is intended for researchers, teachers,
engineers, managers, and practitioners seeking research on
algorithms to enhance the order picking performance.

Effective logistics management has played a vital role in
delivering products and services, and driving research into finding
ever improving theoretical and technological solutions. While often
thought of in terms of the business world, logistics and operations
management strategies can also be effectively applied within the
military, aeronautical, and maritime sectors. The Handbook of
Research on Military, Aeronautical, and Maritime Logistics and
Operations compiles interdisciplinary research on diverse issues
related to logistics from an inclusive range of methodological
perspectives. This publication focuses on original contributions in
the form of theoretical, experimental research, and case studies on
logistics strategies and operations management with an emphasis on
military, aeronautical, and maritime environments. Academics and
professionals operating in business environments, government
institutions, and military research will find this publication
beneficial to their research and professional endeavors.

Hybrid Artificial Intelligent Systems (HAIS) try to deal with the
complexity of real world phenomena using a multidisciplinary
approach and a plurality of techniques. Logistics Management and
Optimization through Hybrid Artificial Intelligence Systems offers
the latest research within the field of HAIS, surveying the broad
topics and collecting case studies, future directions, and cutting
edge analyses. Using biologically-inspired algorithms such as ant
colony optimization and particle swarm optimization, this text
includes solutions and heuristics for practitioners and academics
alike, offering a vital resource for staying abreast in this
ever-burgeoning field.
The predominant view in economic theory until the crisis of the
'70s, argued the great enterprise was the key player in the
innovation process, this was conceived as an activity that unfolded
in specific areas, with clear responsibilities and predetermined
objectives. This operating structure of the innovative process was
functional demand model that favored the standardization of
production. The innovative process was developed predominantly by
firms that had a domain oligopolistic market from which they made
windfall with which financed the research and development
activities. In this context, the role of SMEs in the innovation
process is limited to covering the portion of the market that big
companies left.
This book discusses various related research models of identity
that offer an explanation of the social network, the voting
behavior in a film festival dedicated, organized within the uses
and gratifications perspective and involved an online survey of
college students who identified as podcast listeners, and other
topics. Social networks have the surprising property of being
"searchable": Ordinary people are capable of directing messages
through their network of acquaintances to reach a specific but
distant target person in only a few steps. We present a model that
offers an explanation of social network searchability in terms of
recognizable personal identities: sets of characteristics measured
along a number of social dimensions. In this research analyze the
voting behavior in a specialized Film Festival held every year in
San Francisco. The use of Data Mining and Bioinspired algorithm
permits to analyze the determinants of success from a specific kind
of film.
