The1stand2ndInternationalConferencesonFunctionalImagingandModelling
of the Heart (FIMH) were held in Helsinki, Finland, in November
2001, and in Lyon, France, in June 2003. These meetings were born
through a fruitful sci- ti?c collaboration between France and
Finland that outreached to other groups and led to the start of
this biennial event. The FIMH conference was the ?rst attempt to
agglutinate researchers from several complementary but often i-
lated ?elds: cardiac imaging, signal and image processing, applied
mathematics and physics, biomedical engineering and computer
science, cardiology, radi- ogy, biology, and physiology. In the
?rst two editions, the conference received an enthusiastic
acceptance by experts of all these communities. FIMH was ori- nally
started as a European event and has increasingly attracted more and
more people from the US and Asia. This edition of FIMH received the
largest number of submissions so far with a result of 47 papers
being accepted as either oral presentations or posters. There were
a number of submissions from non-EU institutions which con?rms the
growing interest in this series of meetings. All papers were
reviewed by up to four reviewers. The accepted contributions were
organized into 8 oral sessions and 3 poster sessions complemented
by a number of invited talks. This year we tried to allocate as
many papers as possible as oral presentations to facilitate more
active participation and to stimulate multidisciplinary
discussions.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the First
Workshop on Artificial Intelligence over Infrared Images for
Medical Applications, AIIIMA 2022, and the First Workshop on
Medical Image Assisted Biomarker Discovery, MIABID 2022, both held
in conjunction with MICCAI 2022, Singapore, during September 18 and
22, 2022. For MIABID 2022, 7 papers from 10 submissions were
accepted for publication. This workshop created a forum to discuss
this specific sub-topic at MICCAI and promote this novel area of
research among the research community that has the potential to
hugely impact our society. For AIIIMA 2022, 10 papers from 15
submissions were accepted for publication. The first workshop on
AIIIMA aimed to create a forum to discuss this specific sub-topic
of AI over Infrared Images for Medical Applications at MICCAI and
promote this novel area of research that has the potential to
hugely impact our society, among the research community.

International Workshop on Simulation and Synthesis in Medical
Imaging, held in conjunction with MICCAI 2017, in Quebec City,
Canada, in September 2017. The 11 revised full papers presented
were carefully reviewed and selected from 14 submissions. The
contributions span the following broad categories: cross modality
(PET/MR, PET/CT, CT/MR, etc.) image synthesis, simulation and
synthesis from large-scale image databases, automated techniques
for quality assessment images, and several applications of image
synthesis and simulation in medical imaging such as image
interpolation and segmentation, image reconstruction, cell imaging,

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the First
International Workshop on Simulation and Synthesis in Medical
Imaging, held in conjunction with MICCAI 2016, in Athens, Greece,
in October 2016. The 17 revised full papers presented together in
this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 21 submissions.
The contributions span the following broad categories: fundamental
methods for image-based biophysical modeling and image synthesis;
biophysical and data-driven models of disease progression or organ
development; biophysical and data-driven models of organ motion and
deformation; biophysical and data-driven models of image formation
and acquisition; segmentation/registration across or within
modalities to aid the learning of model parameters; cross modality
(PET/MR, PET/CT, CT/MR, etc.) image synthesis; simulation and
synthesis from large-scale image databases; automated techniques
for quality assessment of simulations and synthetic images; as well
as several applications of image synthesis and simulation in
medical imaging such as image registration and segmentation; image
denoising and information fusion; image reconstruction from sparse
data or sparse views; and real-time simulation of biophysical
properties. The papers were divided into two general topics named
"simulation based approaches for medical imaging" and "synthesis
and its applications in computational medical imaging".
