This is one of the most important books for any Metis to have in
their collection. Grant was the first to fly the Metis Flag in "The
Battle of Seven Oaks". For anyone looking to learn the the culture
and understand the History of the Metis people this is a book for
you.
History is the heart and soul of any place. In the past it had a
heart beat, a pulse. Every place, person has a unique story.
Grandview Cemetery is located in Bryan, Texas. This cemetery is one
of the largest African American burial grounds in Brazos County
with over 1000 people buried there. It had very hopeful beginnings
with freed slaves, black business owners and veterans of several
wars buried there. There has been an African American presence in
Bryan, Texas since early history, they played a major role in the
development of the city. The current resting place of so many
people is filled with garbage, over grown brush, weeds and so much
more. The haunting image of Malinda Cunningham inspired the author
to tell the stories of the dead, for the dead do tell tales. This
book is dedicated to them.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has
agreed to be a part of this project, as a Metis woman this was very
important for me to complete this project. Huge special thank you
to Tantoo Cardinal, an inspiration of mine for agreeing to take
part in this project, she inspires so many. Proceeds from this book
will be donated to MMIW, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women
Causes. Most of us are familiar with women such as Laura Secord,
Lucy Maud Montgomery. These women were important in Canadian
History and were featured in books and school history lessons. But
we must remember the history of our land was not made by only
settlers; Indigenous women have been shaking things up for
generation after generation and have had many key roles in Canadian
History. If we do not know their names, it is time we started
learning them. Our sacred women who have been missing and murdered
are indeed a Canadian National Crisis. We must bring about change
and awareness.

includes activities. If you are a Metis and wish to help educate
children about Metis culture then this book is a great start. This
book can be fun for all children Metis and Non-Metis.
This Metis Coloring Book is the 2nd in a series of Metis Subject
Coloring Books. In this edition we explore famous Metis landmarks
throughout Canada. It is jammed packed with pages to color as well
as a detailed description of each coloring sheet. It is a fun way
to educate about Metis Landmarks. We hope to inspire and educate

This book is a very personal journey of my family genealogy. This
incredible historical journey begins with a seed planted of a Metis
Warrior among the Jamestown Colony, Virginia. The Powhatan were a
proud American Indian people of Eastern Virginia. Our story begins
with Opechancanough Mangopeesomon, Paramount Chief of the Powhatan,
born about 1545. We then switch genealogy gears and my family
lineage includes Dakota Chiefs. Wabasha I, Wakute Wazican /Pine
Shooter is the father of Cuthbert Grant Jr's mother, Grand Nakomas
Mah Je Gwoz Since Marguerite, ""Clear sky."" She is also known as
""Utiniwasis. She is also the mother of my great great great
grandmother Josephte Grant. And so from this my Proud Metis line
begins. I am hoping my own incredible journey that has an amazing
pit stop at the famous Jamestown Colony to plant a seed, will
inspire so many more to dig deeper into their own family histories
and really embrace and celebrate where we come from.
This book takes the reader through the many challenges that Metis
people have with their governing bodies. Not all Metis people are
treated equally. It is time for Metis Warriors to step forward and
say enough is enough. The Rumble of Thunder is the sound of Metis
Warriors who have had enough. The Manitoba Metis Federation is
notorious for pushing it's citizens under the bannock bus. They are
only interested in photo opportunities and not for advancing the
rights of the every day Metis citizen. The tyranny has to end. So
many are afraid to step forward and speak up. Time for change is
now. We must not repeat the mistakes of the past, the future can be
bright for our people if our rights are not stomped on. I can tell
you that the bannock indeed does not crumble evenly and that is
what the MMF is counting on.
The Adventures of Bannock Boy continue when he asks the question,
"What is Metis". We start in the East of Canada and explore just
what it is to be a Metis. This is a fun and educational way for
children to learn about the Metis Culture and Heritage. Bannock Boy
makes learning fun.
This book hopes to explain to the masses exactly what does being
transgender means. In a nutshell and to put it as simply as
possible, transgender is really an umbrella term for people whose
gender identity, gender expression or behavior does not match or
conform to what society typically associates with the sex that they
were assigned at birth. Gender Identity really refers to a person's
internal feeling and sense of being male, female or something else.
Gender expression refers to the way an individual communicates
gender identity to society through their behavior, clothing,
hairstyles, voice or body characteristics. ""Trans"" in society is
sometimes shorthand for the term ""transgender."" The positive
thing to make note of is in the way transgender individuals are
being spoken about in popular culture, academia and science and
that it is constantly evolving. This book hopes to bring more
awareness, knowledge and openness about about transgender people.
