Developing countries worldwide have been embarking on 'smart cities' programmes using new technology solutions to improve public services. Faced with severe problems of the digital divide, poverty, unemployment, inequality, and financial and social exclusion, these cities have to negotiate hard in order to reach their goals. This book examines urban governance, digital divide, poverty, unemployment, financial and social exclusion and presents a theoretical perspective on inclusive cities, urbanization, migration, slums and affordable housing. The book aims at formulating and implementing an agenda for inclusive, equitable, and sustainable urban development in tune with the UN-SDGs, the New Urban Agenda of Habitat III, and India's new national urban missions. It probes into the scope of adopting inclusionary urban planning, zoning, and housing, financing inclusive city development and poverty alleviation through municipal finance reforms using findings and lessons from detailed field studies of Indian cities. It also suggests an Agenda for Slum-free and Poverty-free cities in an attempt to make these cities more people-focused, humane and inclusionary. This book will be of interest to scholars and researchers of political science, policy studies, public administration, urban studies, urban planning and management, urban sociology and geography, besides being of interest to policy researchers, community workers, grass roots researchers, policy makers, and sociologists.
This volume constitutes the refereed proceedings of the following 9 international workshops: OTM Academy, OTM Industry Case Studies Program, Cloud and Trusted Computing, C&TC, Enterprise Integration, Interoperability, and Networking, EI2N, Industrial and Business Applications of Semantic Web Technologies, INBAST, Information Systems, om Distributed Environment, ISDE, Methods, Evaluation, Tools and Applications for the Creation and Consumption of Structured Data for the e-Society, META4eS, Mobile and Social Computing for collaborative interactions, MSC, and Ontology Content, OnToContent 2014. These workshops were held as associated events at OTM 2014, the federated conferences "On The Move Towards Meaningful Internet Systems and Ubiquitous Computing", in Amantea, Italy, in October 2014. The 56 full papers presented together with 8 short papers, 6 posters and 5 keynotes were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 96 submissions. The focus of the workshops were on the following subjects models for interoperable infrastructures, applications, privacy and access control, reliability and performance, cloud and configuration management, interoperability in (System-of-)Systems, distributed information systems applications, architecture and process in distributed information system, distributed information system development and operational environment, ontology is use for eSociety, knowledge management and applications for eSociety, social networks and social services, social and mobile intelligence, and multimodal interaction and collaboration.
This volume constitutes the refereed proceedings of the following 8 International Workshops: OTM Academy; OTM Industry Case Studies Program; Enterprise Integration, Interoperability, and Networking, EI2N; International Workshop on Fact Based Modeling 2015, FBM; Industrial and Business Applications of Semantic Web Technologies, INBAST; Information Systems, om Distributed Environment, ISDE; Methods, Evaluation, Tools and Applications for the Creation and Consumption of Structured Data for the e-Society, META4eS; and Mobile and Social Computing for collaborative interactions, MSC 2015. These workshops were held as associated events at OTM 2015, the federated conferences "On The Move Towards Meaningful Internet Systems and Ubiquitous Computing", in Rhodes, Greece, in October 2015. The 55 full papers presented together with 3 short papers and 2 popsters were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 100 submissions. The workshops share the distributed aspects of modern computing systems, they experience the application pull created by the Internet and by the so-called Semantic Web, in particular developments of Big Data, increased importance of security issues, and the globalization of mobile-based technologies.
As high cost of spray grade coating powders limits the adoption of thermal spray techniques in industries, exploring low cost coating materials has become the need of the hour. This book is an exploration onto the coating potential of such a novel and cheap material called Red Mud that does not belong to the so called plasma sprayable category. Red mud is the major waste generated during the production of alumina from bauxite and it comprises of oxides of iron, titanium, aluminium and silica along with some other minor constituents. Plasma is used for deposition of red mud coatings on metal substrates. Plasma spray coating is a technique that combines particle melting, rapid solidification and consolidation in a single process. This book gives a detailed account of all these.
This book models the default probabilities and credit spreads for select Indian firms in the Black-Scholes-Merton framework. In particular, it shows that the objective (or 'real') probability estimates are higher than the risk-neutral estimates over the sample period. However, the probability measure is found to be robust to the 'default trigger point'. The model output also compares favorably with the default rate reported by CRISIL's Average 1-year rating transitions as well as the Altman Z-score measure. However it does not generate spreads as high as those observed in the corporate bond market. Perhaps not surprisingly, this is consistent with the received literature on credit spreads. This book is meant for Credit Analysts and Officers of the Credit Risk Management Department of banks and financial institutions who are concerned with designing and developing internal credit rating models, pricing models and credit portfolio models as well as students of Finanace and those teaching Risk Management.
