The Internship (2013)
Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson star as two former salesmen who, never having
managed to come to grips with the digital age, are left high and
dry when their employer suddenly decides to call it a day. Staking
everything on one last throw of the dice, the pair, defying all the
odds, somehow manage to get themselves accepted onto a coveted
internship at tech giants Google. But will they be able to keep up
the facade once they take up their positions?
The Watch (2012)
Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade star as a group of
friends who form a neighbourhood watch group. While Evan Trautwig, a newcomer to the suburban neighbourhood, may have a
legitimate reason for forming a crime watch group following the
recent murder of a friend, it is clear that for most of the men
ulterior motives are at work. Indeed, Bob Finnerty seems
to spend a lot more time examining the dating habits of his
daughter, Chelsea, than he does looking for
threats. However, when the men stumble across what appears to be an
alien plan to destroy humankind, they understand where their
responsibilities lie and set out to counter the threat.

While large bodies of scholarship exist on the plays of Shakespeare
and the philosophy of Heidegger, this book is the first to read
these two influential figures alongside one another, and to reveal
how they can help us develop a creative and contemplative sense of
ethics, or an 'ethical imagination'. Following the increased
interest in reading Shakespeare philosophically, it seems only
fitting that an encounter take place between the English language's
most prominent poet and the philosopher widely considered to be
central to continental philosophy. Interpreting the plays of
Shakespeare through the writings of Heidegger and vice versa, each
chapter pairs a select play with a select work of philosophy. In
these pairings the themes, events, and arguments of each work are
first carefully unpacked, and then key passages and concepts are
taken up and read against and through one another. As these
hermeneutic engagements and cross-readings unfold we find that the
words and deeds of Shakespeare's characters uniquely illuminate,
and are uniquely illuminated by, Heidegger's phenomenological
analyses of being, language, and art.
With a nasty bug sweeping the globe, Santa's workshop is forced to
close and all his elves placed into lockdown. Without access to the
high tech toy-making machines in the workshop, there's no way the
elves can possibly make all the toys they need this Christmas, and
they fall into despair. Could this be the year that the magic of
Christmas is lost forever? The newest, youngest and smallest elf on
record refuses to accept this thought and wants nothing more than
to make Christmas magic for all the children on Santa's list.
Inspired by her own bow-tying skills, she starts making gifts from
whatever she can find. But her parents, convinced that the only way
to make toys today is by pushing buttons on a machine, tell her
it's pointless. The smallest elf stumbles upon an old workshop in
her back garden, full of tools and perfectly matched to her size.
The workshop was her Gran's - a small elf too - and inspired, she
quickly learns how to make toys out of wool, wood and other things
with the help of her animal friends. Just when she thinks she's
cracked it, she learns from Santa that the only way he can make the
sleigh fly is to make EVERY SINGLE PRESENT on the list. And she's
way, way off. Luckily the other small elves in the village have
been watching this saga unfold. Keen to save Christmas too, they
join her in making every last toy in one epic final push on
Christmas Eve Eve - ready for Santa to fill his sleigh and take the
toys out to the world. As the sleigh takes to the sky we realise
that Mikka has done it! Saved Christmas for all - It's astounding,
the things you can do when you're small.

Collaborative working has been increasingly viewed as a good
practice for organizations to achieve efficiency. Organizations
that work well in collaboration may have access to new sources of
funding, deliver new, improved, and more integrated services, make
savings on shared costs, and exchange knowledge, information and
expertise. Collaboration and the Semantic Web: Social Networks,
Knowledge Networks and Knowledge Resources showcases cutting-edge
research on the intersections of Semantic Web, collaborative work,
and social media research, exploring how the resources of so-called
social networking applications, which bring people together to
interact and encourage sharing of personal information and ideas,
can be tapped by Semantic Web techniques, making shared Web
contents readable and processable for machine and intelligent
applications, as well as humans. Semantic technologies have shown
their potential for integrating valuable knowledge, and they are
being applied to the composition of digital learning and working
platforms. Integrated semantic applications, linked data, social
networks, and networked digital solutions can now be used in
collaborative environments and present participants with the
context-aware information that they need.
"There is only one bond that I trust: between a woman and her
sisters. We never take our eyes off each other. In love and in
rivalry, we always think of each other." When Katherine of Aragon
is brought to the Tudor court as a young bride, the oldest
princess, Margaret, takes her measure. With one look, each knows
the other for a rival, an ally, a pawn, destined - with Margaret's
younger sister Mary - to a sisterhood unique in all the world. The
three sisters will become the queens of England, Scotland and
France. United by family loyalties and affections, the three queens
find themselves set against each other. Katherine commands an army
against Margaret and kills her husband James IV of Scotland. But
Margaret's boy becomes heir to the Tudor throne when Katherine
loses her son. Mary steals the widowed Margaret's proposed husband,
but when Mary is widowed it is her secret marriage for love that is
the envy of the others. As they experience betrayals, dangers, loss
and passion, the three sisters find that the only constant in their
perilous lives is their special bond, more powerful than any man,
even a king.

"D'Amato has the soul of a poet."
-Phyllis Johnson, Tidewater Teacher Magazine
If you have visited Italy or are going soon, you probably know
the basics: ordering a coffee will get you an espresso, don't plan
to shop between 2:00 and 4:00 PM, and Italians tip about 5 percent
compared to our 15 percent. However, if someone tells you to locate
the zebra stripes, asks if you want to borrow a phone, or
recommends some local cannoli, there's a good chance you'll be
caught off guard.
During a seventeen-day escapade in a remote town two hours south
of Naples, D'Amato and his students discovered the nuances of
Italian society and much more. From being pick-pocketed to
realizing there was no drinking age, the teenagers confronted many
unanticipated situations.
Whether you are contemplating a vacation in Italy or wondering
what happens when a teacher takes students four thousand miles from
home, D'Amato's travel journal will serve as an intimate guide to
the pain and pleasure of cross-cultural immersion. His captivating
accounts are filled with impassioned observations and practical
advice that will help readers avoid the potential pitfalls of
traveling abroad. Roam Italy will make even jaded world travelers
slow down to savor the oft-missed beauty and meaning embedded in
seemingly ordinary "everyday" experiences.

The first translation, produced by a team of eight scholars, of the
Declamations and Preliminary Talks of the sixth-century sophist
Choricius of Gaza. Declamations, deliberative or judicial orations
on fictitious themes, were the fundamental advanced exercises of
the rhetorical schools of the Roman Empire, of interest also to
audiences outside the schools. Some of Choricius' declamations are
on generic themes (e.g. a tyrannicide, a war-hero), while others
are based on specific motifs from Homeric times or from classical
Greek history. The Preliminary Talks were typical prefaces to
orations of all kinds. This volume also contains a detailed study
of Choricius' reception in Byzantium and Renaissance Italy. It will
be of interest to students of late antiquity, ancient rhetoric, and
ancient education.
This book, co-written by a team of European competition law
specialists, offers critical perspectives on the whole range of
issues in EC competition law. The book has two distinctive
features: the first is that unlike similar works which present the
law from either an enforcement agency or practitioner perspective
in a fairly conventional manner, this work offers fresh, critical
reflections on the state of the law. The second is that the authors
are young academics, practitioners and administrators who have
worked in the relevant fields and who are relatively new "voices"
in the competition law literature. Drawn from diverse jurisdictions
and professional backgrounds the authors bring a distinctively
"European" feel (for instance not drawing exclusively on English
language literature), and manage to introduce debates that have
been taking place in the non-English language world, thereby
assisting a more comprehensive dialogue in this field. The
diversity in their professional backgrounds means that each chapter
adopts a different perspective, with some chapters focusing on
practical solutions to problems, and others exploring more general
theoretical questions. The textbook-like structure places the
issues in their appropriate contexts and ensures that readers see
how the discussion in each chapter links with the body of law as a
whole. The book is aimed at academic lawyers and practitioners,
complementing existing textbooks and allowing the reader to extend
his or her understanding of the subject and provide a quick source
of reference to the main doctrinal debates on the subject, and
offer fresh perspectives on the topics covered. The impact of EC
competition law beyond Europe also means that this book will appeal
to lawyers in the US, Australia, Canada and beyond.
Concentrating on international intellectual property law, this
volume is a collection of works by current authors in the field.
Their work is supplemented by numerous essays and notes prepared by
the editors. The controlling provisions of the major treaties in
the field are included in a comprehensive appendix. The editors
have organized the book according to the theories underlying the
protection of international intellectual property rights. For
example, they have considered the historical and philosophical
foundation of copyright protection in the context of the protection
of culture and personality, while issues regarding compulsory
licensing to ensure public use of certain forms of intellectual
property have been illustrated by examples drawn from patent
protection. The problem of "harmonization" is addressed through
many diverse examples from intellectual property protection. And
the closely-related field of the protection of cultural patrimony
is also included.

working singers. The book goes on to describe how Tony and Sally
created The Smallest Grand Opera in the World, gaining
international critical acclaim in the process.
