This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Implementation and Application of Automata, CIAA 2000, held in London, Ontario, Canada, in July 2000.The 26 revised full papers presented together with two invited papers and seven abstracts have passed through two rounds of selection and revision.
