Edward Gardner conducts the English National Opera Orchestra and
Chorus in this production of Benjamin Britten's final opera based
on the novella by Thomas Mann. John Graham-Hall plays Gustav von
Aschenbach, an ageing novelist who becomes obsessed with Polish boy
Tadzio (Sam Zaldivar). The performance was recorded at The London
Coliseum in June 2013.
Roberto Paternostro leads the Orchestra of the Teatro Colón in
Buenos Aires in an edited version of Wagner's 'Ring' cycle. Staged
in one day, the production was directed by Valentina Carrasco, who
has previously worked with the Catalan theatrical group 'La Fura
dels Baus'. The cast members include Linda Watson, Jukka
Rasilainen, Leonid Zakhozhaev and Andrew Shore. The set also
includes the documentary 'The Colón Ring - Wagner in Buenos Aires'.
