Heterogeneous Catalysis in Organic Transformations (Hardcover): Varun Rawat, Anirban Das, Chandra Mohan Srivastava Heterogeneous Catalysis in Organic Transformations (Hardcover)
Varun Rawat, Anirban Das, Chandra Mohan Srivastava
R4,019 Discovery Miles 40 190 Ships in 9 - 17 working days

As the broad challenges around energy and the environment have become the focus of much research, scientists and experts have dedicated their efforts to developing more active and selective catalytic systems for key chemical transformations. For many decades environmentally viable protocols for the synthesis of fine chemicals have been the crux of academic and industrial research. Heterogeneous Catalysis in Organic Transformations serves as an overview of this work, providing a complete description of role of heterogeneous catalysis in organic transformations and offering a review of the current and near future technologies and applications. Discusses the fundamentals of catalysis and compares the advantages and disadvantages of different types of catalyst systems Examines oxide nanoparticles and noble metal nanoparticles Consider organometallic compounds, solid-supported catalysts, and mesoporous materials Describes recent advances in metal-based heterogeneous catalysts and new reactions with possible mechanistic pathways Providing a comprehensive review of heterogeneous catalysis from the basics through recent advances, this book will be of keen interest to undergraduates, graduates, and researchers in chemistry, chemical engineering, and associated fields.

Photoelectrochemical Generation of Fuels (Hardcover): Anirban Das, Gyandshwar Kumar Rao, Kasinath Ojha Photoelectrochemical Generation of Fuels (Hardcover)
Anirban Das, Gyandshwar Kumar Rao, Kasinath Ojha
R3,647 Discovery Miles 36 470 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

Photoelectrochemical processes due to the symbiosis of photochemical and electrochemical processes result in unique reaction pathways and products. This technique catalysed by nanomaterials is extensively used to harness sunlight for production of fuels and chemical feedstocks. This book explains the basic concepts of photoelectrochemistry as well as their application in the generation of solar fuels from water, CO2 and N2 as feedstocks. It also contains standard methodologies and benchmarks of fuel production including current state of the art in nanocatalysts as well as their mechanism of action. This book: Explores fundamentals and real-time applications of photoelectrochemistry in fuel generation Reviews basic theory and best-known catalysts and best conditions/processes for fuel generation in each of the chapters Covers standard methodologies, processes, and limitations for large-scale applications Focusses on sustainable production of fuels from renewable energy and resources This book aims at graduate students/researchers in chemical, energy and materials engineering.

A systematic overview of concepts in Medical Internet of Things (MIoT) has been included. Recent research and some pointers to future advancements in areas of MIoT have been discussed. Examples and case studies have been included. Written in easily understandable style with the help of numerous figures and dataset

Toward a Politics of the (Im)Possible - The Body in Third World Feminisms (Paperback): Anirban Das Toward a Politics of the (Im)Possible - The Body in Third World Feminisms (Paperback)
Anirban Das
R845 Discovery Miles 8 450 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

This book works at the intersection of two related yet different fields. One is the heterogeneous feminist effort to question universal forms of knowing. The second field follows from this conundrum: how does one think of the body when s/he speaks of embodiment? 'Toward a Politics of the (Im)Possible' engages the forefront of contemporary thought on the body, while remaining mindful of the requirements of a feminist approach.

The Value of Using Hydrological Datasets for Water Allocation Decisions: Earth Observations, Hydrological Models, and Seasonal... The Value of Using Hydrological Datasets for Water Allocation Decisions: Earth Observations, Hydrological Models, and Seasonal Forecasts (Paperback)
Anirban Das, Gyandshwar Kumar Rao, Kasinath Ojha
R2,440 Discovery Miles 24 400 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

An increasing number of hydrological datasets from earth observations, hydrological models and seasonal forecasts have become available for water managers, consultants and the general public. These datasets are state-of-the-art products which are usually accessible online and may contribute to develop hydrological studies and support water resources management. However, the added value of these datasets has not been completely explored in decision-making processes. Research studies have assessed how well data can help in predicting climate, but there is a lack of knowledge on how well data can help in water allocation decisions. This work provides numerical tools, methods and results to evaluate the value of using hydrological datasets to support water allocation decisions at river basin and irrigation district scale. An integrated approach is used to predict climate, improve decisions and reduce negative impacts. Results show that investing in hydrological data with finer spatial and temporal resolution and longer periods of record improves water allocation decisions and reduces agricultural production loss in large irrigation schemes. Using river discharge data from hydrological models and global precipitation enhances irrigation area planning when little in-situ data is available. Moreover, using seasonal streamflow forecasts improves available water estimates resulting in better water allocation decisions. The framework was tested in Costa Rica, Colombia and Australia, but can be applied in any case study around the world.
