Addressing the increased use of protein and peptide candidates as treatments for previously untreatable diseases, this comprehensive and progressive source provides the reader with a roadmap to an increased understanding of issues critical for successfully developing a protein or peptide therapeutic candidate. Proteins and Peptides is an invaluable source for drug discovery and development scientists in the biopharmaceutical industry who frequently navigate the maze of protein and peptide pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and metabolism. Key features include: issues related to delivery of protein and peptide therapeutics in elderly populations and pharmacogenomics lessons learned on the major marketed areas of proteins and peptides, including interleukins, interferons, growth factors, and peptide hormones innovations for protein and peptide delivery such as needle-less delivery strategies for delivery of these molecules to locations such as the eye and brain generic issues of proteins and peptides

The Barefoot-Withrow Families history and genealogy book was originally published in 1966 by Vivian and Anne Daugherty. Vivian and Anne, along with their sisters Susan, Helen, Lucille, and Antoinette, worked on the family history beginning in the mid-1950s and continued their efforts for at least a decade. They interviewed the older members of the family, tracked down 'lost' cousins and ferreted out family information from old letters, original documents and blurry copies. To validate their research, they notarized statements made by their mother and aunts and uncles. The sisters did not have the advantage of today's computers and online resources to make research easier so they did all this through personal contact, phone calls and letters. In spite of the lack of today's technology, they did a wonderful job of pulling the family information together, tracing our line back to Jeptha Barefoot who was in the Revolutionary War. Although finding the exact ancestor who first came to the New World has proved to be difficult, they were able to trace the origins of the name back through North Ireland to Scotland to Scandinavia.
The case study presented here illustrated the combination of personality and process that resulted in the establishment of NIMA in 1996. It has been written specifically for those who are studying Congress and the U.S. Intelligence Community. It highlights the role of the House and Senate Intelligence Committees and how those committees interact with other committees. It augments the few good sources that exist on this very narrow subject.
