Until fairly recently, women?s mental health and the services that address it have suffered serious neglect in the research literature. This new volume is intended to fill this information void. In Women?s Mental Health Services, authorities from around the country and from a variety of perspectives take on such key topics as empowerment, substance abuse, severe mental illness, and interpersonal violence as they relate to women. In Part I, the contributors examine service delivery organization, gender and racial service disparities, and challenges for women as mental health administrators. Part II looks at empowerment issues, severe mental illness and trauma, and at-risk populations among women. Addressing some of the most recent research and programs in women?s mental health care, Women?s Mental Health Services provides the advanced-level student with a broad survey of the activity in this underserved area and brings busy community and mental health providers up-to-date on the work of many of their colleagues. Bruce Lubotsky Levin is editor of the Journal of Behavioral Health Services and Research and Associate Professor at the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute and College of Public Health, University of South Florida. Andrea K. Blanch is Associate Commissioner for Programs, and Ann Jennings is Director of Trauma Recovery Services, Maine Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services.

Life shouldn't imitate art for a mystery writer.
Bartender Wanted introduces the Rose Leary series, tales of
chilling suspense and cold-blooded murder spiked with generous
dashes of humor.
Gritty glamour in 1980s New York City doesn't come cheap. To
afford even her fifth-floor walkup, Rose Leary needs a gig.
Bartending at a neighborhood joint subsidizes her writing career,
even if she does fill a dead woman's platforms.
Rose speculates about who killed her predecessor, but her novel's
looming deadline demands she dedicate all creativity to her
fiction. When another bartender dies, Rose pictures her name
scrawled at the top of the murderer's hit list. Even sarcasm can't
shield her from this coming danger.
Frightening phone calls and ominous gifts turn everyone she meets
into a suspect. Dead flowers dirty her hallway, and her phone
shrills menace. Terror invades her life and paralyzes her writing.
Determined to defeat her fear, Rose struggles to expose the killer
in a desperate race to save herself and her work.
Set in the West Village restaurant scene, Bartender Wanted
resurrects a city where fishmongers and greengrocers fill the
stores now colonized by designers, and brawny butchers still work
in the Meatpacking District.
Written with wit, intelligence, and a distinctive style, the Rose
Leary series creates a signature cocktail so intoxicating it keeps
readers coming back for more.
About the Author
Maureen Anne Jennings has worn the hats of a journalist,
copywriter, editor, publishing consultant, media relations manager,
book festival director, and Fillmore East staffer. She owns more
than 100 hats, not all of them work related. After the obligatory
waitressing during college, she squandered a few years behind the
bar at various dives in lower Manhattan. She also owned and
operated a pub in northern California. Be careful what you write
about.
Collected poems by Judith Ann Jennings that reflect on life, love
and nature.
In this volume, authorities from around the United States and from
a variety of perspectives analyze and discuss key topics in women's
mental health, including empowerment, substance abuse, severe
mental illness and interpersonal violence.
Issues examined in the first part focus on service delivery -
for example, the organizational structure of service delivery,
gender and racial service disparities, and challenges women face as
mental health administrators. Contributors to Part Two explore
special issues and populations, including women who have survived
trauma such as sexual abuse, and women with mental disorders who
are in prison.
