* Applies popular Christ Walk approach as a path to reconciliation
and healing * Combines physical and spiritual avenues in a holistic
program that anyone can use "Walk it off," that much-used advice of
coaches, turns out to work in the spiritual realm, too. Take a walk
with Anna and David as they explore reconciliation and healing
using the best-selling framework found in Christ Walk: A 40 Day
Spiritual Fitness Program. Through their own experiences with moral
injury, illness, and trauma, the authors have found that sometimes
the best way to deal with stressful experiences is by moving their
feet. Over the course of forty days, readers will experience God in
each stage of the healing process in tandem with a biblically
inspired journey.
A Bible-inspired fitness program designed to improve your physical
and spiritual health. Christ Walk outlines a 40-day program for
individuals and groups to focus on improving physical health while
engaging in spiritual and mental reflection and growth. Individuals
and groups select different biblical routes to complete (through
walking, running, biking, etc.), while reading a reflective passage
on health and spirituality each day of the journey. Each chapter is
a daily meditation on different aspects of mind, body, and
spiritual health tied to biblical teachings and Christian
traditions. The appendices include options for groups and
individuals to transform their Christ Walk experience from journey
to journey. "Don't read this book-do this book. There is no better
book available to inspire and assist both individuals and
congregations to start a walking program. Follow the plan outlined
in this book, one step at a time, and you will strengthen not just
your physical wellness, but also your spiritual and emotional
wellness."-The Rev. Dr. Scott Stoner, creator of "Living Compass
Faith & Wellness Ministry" and author of Your Living Compass:
Living Well in Thought, Word, and Deed
Developed as a companion to Christ Walk: A 40 Day Spiritual Fitness
Program, Christ Walk Kids is an exciting 40-day journey for youth
(ages 11 and up) to explore mind, body, and spiritual health. This
book helps kids set physical goals by committing to walk different
routes based on routes in the Bible. Each chapter explores a topic
that everyone thinks about, but not everyone knows how to address.
Anna Courie opens up a discussion with youth about health topics
they think and talk about amongst themselves, but puts the dialogue
in the perspective of spiritual development. Key to the success of
this outline is that each day there are topics for youth and
parents and/or youth leaders to use as they explore health in a
safe environment. Youth are encouraged to participate fully in the
Christ Walk program by physical challenges (walking, running, or
biking "biblical" routes); mental challenges (deep discussion and
thoughtfulness of youth health risks); and spiritual challenges
(biblical references and spiritually grounded self-development).
Youth and parents are urged to participate together in the Christ
Walk program so that the church can address the health of the
entire family holistically: mind, body, and spirit.
Cancer diagnosis and treatment can make a person feel both
frightened and powerless; Anna Fitch Courie takes a different
approach: Join her as she embarks on an epic journey with God after
finding out she has cancer. Cancer Girl wraps herself in a cape of
grace, freely sharing her experiences of diagnosis, traversing the
medical system, finding faith in God again, and learning to live
with cancer. Cancer Girl learns that there is no stronger “magic
word” than “Trust God.” Part journal, part sage advice, Fitch
Courie weaves her experience as a nurse throughout her story. Using
her real-time blog posts during the course of diagnosis, treatment,
and living with the disease, Fitch Courie covers the cycle of grief
and relearning a new norm, offering assurance to others that they
are not alone. Each chapter opens with Scripture that reflects the
theme of the day. Section 1 covers early stages of the journey;
Section 2 offers learnings from the experience; and Section 3
offers questions for the individual to reflect on their own illness
and how they felt. Readers are encouraged to explore their
thoughts, feelings, and experiences with their illness in order to
contribute to overall healing.
