The intersections of aging, media, and culture are under-explored
given trends in population aging, rapid increases in the mediation
of everyday life, and the growing cultural significance of media
consumption at the global level. This book brings together an
international collection of critical scholars, both
well-established and up-and-coming, from the various academic
disciplines that share a common interest in the future study of
aging and media. This anthology of original articles integrates
aging theory and media studies through a study of core issues
including the media's influence on the construction of "old age,"
the reciprocal influence of aging on media industries, age-based
identities in a mediated world, issues of gender and sexuality in
an aging society, and the practical implications of a more
integrated approach between the two fields. The chapters explore
the intersections between aging and media in the realms of
advertising/marketing, television, film, music, celebrity and
social media, among others.
This book is a celebration of women in science, technology,
medicine and business at Imperial College London. It shows the
inspirational role women played in the creation of the legacy of
the College since its inception, and represents a guide to their
achievements. Biographies and archive material provide an insight
into their academic work and social lives, while first-hand
information collected for individual cases gives a comprehensive
overview of student and professional life in their diverse fields
and subjects. Further careers as academics and businesswomen are
also documented, demonstrating the importance of and wider social
impact of women in the sciences.

This easy-to-read, practical guide distils and compiles all the
disparate literature on cancer into one succinct volume. It
includes the essential, evidence-based clinical guidelines needed
for the safe and effective management of patients with cancer, and
has a clear layout to allow for quick reference whilst on the ward.
All aspects of cancer and its management are covered, including
prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment. The text begins by
outlining the clinical approach to suspected cancer and the
principles of multidisciplinary prevention and management. It then
progresses through site-specific cancer management, including head
and neck, CNS, thoracic, breast, gastrointestinal system,
genitourinary system, female genital system, skin, musculoskeletal
system, haemopoietic system, and endocrine. Later chapters cover
oncological emergencies and acute oncology, and special situations
such as cancer in younger and older people, and pregnancy and
fertility. The guide also offers information about coping with the
lifestyle and social issues that may arise with a diagnosis of
cancer, such as insurance, travel and support, and includes a
chapter dedicated to palliative care for the cancer patient. A
unique appendix of clinical management flowcharts assists fast,
appropriate decision-making.
This project is very personal to the writer as she shares her
testimonies and experiences with God! Her prayer is that it helps
others to look beyond Christianity as just a religion and seek an
intimate relationship with Christ. For our walk to be successful,
we must have a relationship with Christ. It has to be beyond just
knowing of Him or obeying Him.We also have to ensure that we
maintain our relationship with Him. This project looks at these
things.
This project uses life situations to show how sin attacks us subtly
and can become strongholds in our lives. The purpose of it is to
have readers see these traps and avoid them. The project is
specific to young people and singles and the challenges of dealing
with premarital sex.
