Oral lichen planus is most commonly asymptomatic and gingival lesions of lichen planus such as atrophic, erosive and desquamative lesions, were often found to co-exist with chronic marginal gingivitis. Whether these lesions are benign or malignant, early diagnosis and planned treatment is mandatory to check the menace at the earliest. The use of bio-resorbable membranes had been proposed to regenerate periodontal structures like alveolar bone, periodontal ligament and epithelium. However it has rarely been tried in the management of lichen planus of gingivae. Periodontal disease is one of the most prevalent afflictions affecting the human beings. When occurs, it destroys the tooth supporting structures like periodontal ligament, cementum and alveolar bone. If untreated, tooth may become mobile and finally may get exfoliated. The ultimate goal of periodontal therapy is creation of an environment that is conducive to maintaining the patient's dentition in health, comfort and function. Periodontal therapy is directed not only at inflammation control but also at pocket reduction and associated bone defect. The shift in therapeutic concepts from resection to regeneration has significantly impacted the practice of periodontology. Regeneration of lost bone and periodontal attachment improves the support of the tooth and its prognosis. Bone replacement grafts have been shown to produce greater clinical bone defect fill from flap debridement alone. In most of the clinical studies, the osseous grafted sites have outperformed the non grafted sites in the regeneration of the lost periodontal structures. This research work evaluated the efficacy of -tricalcium phosphate plus hydroxyapatite in the treatment of periodontal infrabony defects."

Dental hypersensitivity probably affects most individuals and at times, pain may be so severe that patient believes that his/her dentition is seriously and perhaps irreversibly affected. Iontophoresis i.e. use of desensitizing agents along with electric current has been utilized as a lasting and predictable treatment of dental hypersensitivity. In the recent past, researchers have been trying to manage this problem by surgical means also by re-covering the exposed tooth root surfaces. Present investigation attempted to find out the effects of combining both these treatment modalities to alleviate the menace of hypersensitivity, along with enhancing the patient's esthetics.
