This is a novel, based on fact, about the 638th Regiment of the
German Army in World War II. This unit was made up of French
volunteers from the occupied part of France. They were mostly
French fascists in the beginning, but blacks and Algerians later
joined as well. The unit had been deployed to what is now called
Belarus to fight partisans. Sergeant LeBris and his men fight this
dirty war, and he struggles with conscience.
This is the true story of a U.S. Navy enlisted man, who served on
an amphibious landing craft during the early part of the Cold War,
specifically 1951 to 1955. His adventures are detailed, from his
time in basic training, to his joining up with his vessel, and a
history of the vessel and her service in WWII is included. We then
follow him on his various trips on maneuvers. Some of the lighter
moments of his time are included, such as when a family in Naples,
Italy tried to get our hero married to their oldest daughter so
they could come to the States.
This is the story, based on fact, of a Spanish volunteer officer
who fought with a division known as the Division Azul, or Blue
Division, in World War II on the Russian Front. Our hero goes
through several battles on the northern sector of the Russian
Front, south of Leningrad. He makes friends and has a romance with
a Russian woman, just as many men of the division did. He also
meets with a German officer to explain his motivation for joining
the division, including avenging his murdered sister, killed by
Russians in the Spanish Civil War. The hero also fights to save his
men in the famous Battle of Krasny Bor.
The perils of the Submarine Service could bring glory, or death, in
equal measure for the aggressive commander and the men who fought
with him. Rig For Silent Running follows Commander Dominic Tomassi
as he and his crew fight their way across the Pacific in World War
II. He gives chase to the Japanese, hunting their greatest oil
tanker, as well as taking revenge for his country, and himself. His
patrols take him from Australia, to the frigid North Pacific, to
the very doorstep of Japan's home islands. His friendships, and
loves, are brought to life for the reader, as well as every loss
that haunts him. From the brink of death, to the triumph of great
sinkings, Rig For Silent Running has the action and emotion to more
than satisfy.
Man your battle stations, and Rig For Silent Running!
