Since the first works introducing the aluminum intercalated clay
family in the early 1970s, interest in the synthesis of pillared
interlayered clays has increased tremendously, especially research
into the properties and applications of new synthesis methods. The
need for solids that could be used as cracking catalysts with
larger pores than zeolitic materials has spurred the synthesis of
new porous materials from clays. Pillared Clays and Related
Catalysts reviews the properties and applications of pillared clays
and other layered materials used as catalysts, focusing on: the
acidity of pillared clays and the effect it has on catalytic
performance the use of pillared clays as supports for catalytically
active phases, and the use of the resulting solids in
environmentally friendly reactions the applications of the
selective reduction of NOx the comparison between the reactions of
pillared clays and anionic clays.
This volume reviews the drinking water treatments in which AOPs
display a high application potential. Firstly it reveals the
typical supply sources and limitations of conventional technologies
and critically reviews natural organic matter characterization and
removal techniques, focusing mainly on AOP treatments. It then
explores using AOPs for simultaneous inactivation/disinfection of
several types of microorganisms, including highly resistant
Cryptosporidium protozoa. Lastly, it discusses relevant
miscellaneous topics, like the most promising AOP solid catalysts,
the regime change of Fenton-like processes toward continuous
reactors, the application of chemometrics for process optimization,
the impact on disinfection byproducts and the tracing of toxicity
during AOP treatments. This work is a useful reference for
researchers and students involved in water technologies, including
analytical and environmental chemistry, chemical and environmental
engineering, toxicology, biotechnology, and related fields. It is
intended to encourage industrial and public-health scientists and
decision-makers to accelerate the application of AOPs as
technological alternatives for the improvement of drinking water
treatment plants.
This is a practical book on neurological therapy. It is aimed at
giving concise and updated answers to busy practicing clinicians in
the clinic, ward or emergency department. An evidence-based
approach is used, but when there is no evidence or the data are
inconclusive, an expert opinion is always being given in order to
meet the expectations of the reader. All neurological conditions
(common and less common) are discussed; each chapter has a similar
format, and contains an initial brief introduction on the
epidemiology and clinical features of each disease. The therapy is
then discussed, including pharmacological and non-pharmacological,
with wide use of Tables & Figures (flowcharts are also included
in most of the chapters).

a Estados Unidos.
no pudo aguantar mas y fuertemente decidio suicidarse.

On November 2 1837 the opening of Carlos II el Hechizado (Charles
II the bewitched) at the Teatro del Principe in Madrid, Spain,
became one of the greatest scandals of its times. The play is about
an alleged spell cast on Charles II, the last Habsburg who reigned
in Spain, by a young girl accused of the crime by a libidinous
priest, father Froilan. The king condemns the girl to burn at the
stake, in spite of knowing that she is his own daughter. The
contemporary critique attacked the play blaming it of immorality
and exaggeration, of containing scenes of base melodramatic quality
and macabre iconography, and the lack of respect shown by the
author towards the historical main character and the Catholic
church. In spite of all this the play remained on stage for eleven
days, and it was restaged repeatedly until the last third of the
XIX Century. This obeys mainly to the fact that the exorcism
endured by the monarch, the imprisonment of the two young lovers in
the Santo Oficio dungeons, the conjectures on the succession at the
Escorial pantheon, the popular revolt against the oppressing
nobility, are attractive episodes that, conveniently presented by
Antonio Gil y Zarate (1796-1861), contribute to a romantic and
exceptional interpretation of the unhappy ending of Charles II
(1661-1700), king of Spain between 1665 until his death. This
critical and annotated edition by prof Montserrat Ribao constitutes
a great enhancement to any course on Spanish literature and drama
of the Romantic period.
