Trusted Platform Modules (TPMs) are small, inexpensive chips which provide a limited set of security functions. They are most commonly found as a motherboard component on laptops and desktops aimed at the corporate or government markets, but can also be found on many consumer-grade machines and servers, or purchased as independent components. Their role is to serve as a Root of Trust - a highly trusted component from which we can bootstrap trust in other parts of a system. TPMs are most useful for three kinds of tasks: remotely identifying a machine, or machine authentication; providing hardware protection of secrets, or data protection; and providing verifiable evidence about a machine's state, or attestation. This book describes the primary uses for TPMs, and practical considerations such as when TPMs can and should be used, when they shouldn't be, what advantages they provide, and how to actually make use of them, with use cases and worked examples of how to implement these use cases on a real system. Banai no pudo cerrar los ojos durante toda la noche. Manana cumpliria quince anos, cuestion que aunque sucede una vez en la vida de todos, en su caso no seria un simple cumpleanos mas. Para su familia, esa era la edad en que se celebraba un momento muy especial: recibiria un legado de su padre, que el a su vez tambien habia recibido de su abuelo a dicha edad, una tradicion que se cumplia quien sabe desde hace cuantas generaciones en la familia. Recibio un antiguo mapa que mostraba la ruta hacia muchisimas ciudades. Y que nombres tan especiales tenian aquellos lugares La Ciudad Subterranea, La Ciudad de los Peces Bailarines, La Ciudad de Unicus, La Ciudad de los Cocodrilos...esta ultima, probablemente mejor no visitarla, penso. Ese mismo dia, sin despedidas especiales, para no entristecerse demasiado, preparo su mochila y la lleno con comida, ropa y varias monedas de oro y plata, doblo el mapa, lo apreto en su mano y partio con una extrana mezcla de alegria y nostalgia. Estaba listo para la gran aventura de su vida.
