Es wird untersucht, ob DV-Abteilungen einem ahnlichen organisatorischen Abschwung unterliegen, wie zum Beispiel die OR-Abteilungen in den sechziger und siebziger Jahren. Als theoretischer Bezugsrahmen wird das Konzept des organisatorischen Lebenszyklus herangezogen, das die Evolution organisatorischer Einheiten von ihrer "Geburt" bis zu ihrem "Tod" betrachtet. Als alternative Entwicklungseinrichtungen werden die Strukturausarbeitung und der organisatorische Abschwung unterschieden. Deren Untersuchung erfolgt mit Hilfe zweier Delphi-Studien, in denen Fuhrungskrafte aus der Datenverarbeitung "und" den Fachbereichen einbezogen werden. Die Ergebnisse bestatigen die vorgenannten Abschwungtendenzen, deren Ursachen am Ende der Arbeit naher analysiert werden."
