This is the first volume to focus specifically on Rabindranath
Tagore's dramatic literature, visiting translations and adaptations
of Tagore's drama, and cross-cultural encounters in his works. As
Asia's first Nobel Laureate, Tagore's highly original plays occupy
a central position in the Indian theatrescape. Tagore experimented
with dance, music, dance drama, and plays, exploring concepts of
environment, education, gender and women, postcolonial encounters,
romantic idealism, and universality. Tagore's drama plays a
generous host to experimentations with new performance modes, like
the writing and staging of an all-women play on stage for the first
time, or the use of cross-cultural styles such as Manipuri dance,
Thai craft in stage design, or the Baul singing styles. This book
is an exciting re-exploration of Tagore's plays, visiting issues
such as his contribution to Indian drama, drama and environment,
feminist readings, postcolonial engagements, cross-cultural
encounters, drama as performance, translational and adaptation
modes, the non-translated or the non-translatable Tagore drama,
Tagore drama in the 21st century, and Indian film. The volume
serves as a wide-ranging and up-to-date resource on the criticism
of Tagore drama, and will appeal to a range of Theatre and
Performance scholars as well as those interested in Indian theatre,
literature, and film.
Fundamentals of Database Indexing and Searching presents well-known
database searching and indexing techniques. It focuses on
similarity search queries, showing how to use distance functions to
measure the notion of dissimilarity. After defining database
queries and similarity search queries, the book organizes the most
common and representative index structures according to their
characteristics. The author first describes low-dimensional index
structures, memory-based index structures, and hierarchical
disk-based index structures. He then outlines useful distance
measures and index structures that use the distance information to
efficiently solve similarity search queries. Focusing on the
difficult dimensionality phenomenon, he also presents several
indexing methods that specifically deal with high-dimensional
spaces. In addition, the book covers data reduction techniques,
including embedding, various data transforms, and histograms.
Through numerous real-world examples, this book explores how to
effectively index and search for information in large collections
of data. Requiring only a basic computer science background, it is
accessible to practitioners and advanced undergraduate students.

The three-volume set LNCS 13245, 13246 and 13247 constitutes the
proceedings of the 26th International Conference on Database
Systems for Advanced Applications, DASFAA 2022, held online, in
April 2021. The total of 72 full papers, along with 76 short
papers, are presented in this three-volume set was carefully
reviewed and selected from 543 submissions. Additionally, 13
industrial papers, 9 demo papers and 2 PhD consortium papers are
included. The conference was planned to take place in Hyderabad,
India, but it was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This book, primarily a travelogue, is an early specimen of cultural
anthropology which gives an urban reader a refreshing and authentic
view of the life style of the tribal population in Indian forests.
The lives of the Kole community, their culture and belief-system,
their social structure have been limned with sensitive and vibrant
details by the author here. As such, the elements of wonder and
amazement in the book are never really exhausted. Secondly,
Sanjibchandra's style of narration which combines an analytic mind
with an ever-wakeful, vivacious child-like curiosity enlivens the
spirit of reading, imparting an adventure-like quality to his
writing. Thirdly, Sanjibchandra had tremendous mastery over
deploying metaphors and similes which makes the places and sights
that he describes immediately palpable. Fourthly, in many pages of
the narration the agony and the ignominy of being under the
colonial rule make themselves felt and manifest which makes for an
interesting study for the post-colonial critics. And last but not
least, Sanjibchandra's aesthetics, his notions of beauty permeate
and intersperse the narrative to such an extent that these may also
be critically interesting to the researchers. In fine, it is a
thoroughly enjoyable book for the lay readers and a
thought-provoking book for the serious researchers.
