This animal book explores the many clever and creative ways animals
communicate with each other, from head-turning howls to
jaw-dropping dances. For many animals, communicating is as
important to their life chances as finding food and water. Animal
Talk is a brilliant introduction to ingenious communication
strategies in the natural world. Whether it is releasing a cloud of
ink to confuse, roaring to intimidate, dancing to attract a mate or
howling to locate one another, the range of messaging methods in
the natural world is quite astonishing (and sometimes quite
disgusting!). Perfect for children aged 7-9, the animal book is
filled with intriguing illustrations and spectacular photographs of
the amazing, obscure, and unusual. You'll never look at nature the
same way again! This captivating animal book for children offers: -
A fascinating array of animal communications from a wide variety of
different species for children aged 7-9. - Expertly written text
and accompanying images to clearly explain each animal
communication. - Several sections which break down different animal
themes, such as sounds, scents, and signals to make the content
easy to understand. - Incredible facts about how animals
communicate - including how elephants communicate over huge
distances by listening through the soles of their feet, how whales
communicate through song, and more. Meet birds and spiders who
dance to attract a mate, vultures that are sick on their own food
to put off other animals, lions who roar at rival prides to test
out their strength, and many more. Animal Talk is a must-have for
the animal-obsessed, as well as making an interesting resource for
school and libraries. At DK, we believe in the power of discovery.
So why not complete the collection? If you liked Animal Talk and
finding out about the creative ways that animals communicate with
each other, why not check out the other intriguing animal title in
the series? How Not To Get Eaten is a book about the many clever
ways animals protect themselves from predators in the wild!

The remarkable story of a woman who refused to renounce her faith
and unwittingly became the global symbol of the fight against
religious extremism. 'I was going to die because of a glass of
water.' After drinking water from the same glass as a Muslim woman,
Asia Bibi, a Christian, was sentenced to hang by the Islamic
Republic of Pakistan in 2010 on charges of blasphemy. Bibi's case
polarised all of Pakistan and mobilised international support from
across the globe, including politicians, journalists, and countless
organisations and supporters who fought for her freedom. For nine
long years, Bibi awaited death in prison until she was formally
acquitted in January 2019. Now a political exile, Bibi is reunited
with her family in the West, but she will never be allowed to
return to her homeland.
Mammography is a routine health screening performed forty million
times each year in the United States, yet it remains one of the
most deeply contested topics in medicine, with national health care
organizations supporting conflicting guidelines.
In Mammography Wars, sociologist Asia Friedman
examines cultural and medical disagreements over mammography.
At issue is whether to screen women under age fifty, which is
rooted in deeper questions about early detection and the assumed
linear and progressive development of breast cancer. Based on
interviews with doctors and scientists, interviews with women ages
40 to 50, and newspaper coverage of mammography, Friedman uses the
sociology of attention to map the cognitive structure of the
“mammography wars,” offering insights into the entrenched
nature of debates over mammography that often get missed when
applying a medical lens. Friedman’s analysis also suggests the
sociology of attention’s unique potential for analyzing cultural
conflicts beyond mammography, and even beyond medicine.

Architecture Asia, as the official journal of the Architects
Regional Council Asia, aims to provide a forum, not only for
presenting Asian phenomena and their characteristics to the world,
but also for understanding diversity and multiculturalism within
Asia from a global perspective. This issue discusses the topic of
globalisation and locality through four essays and eleven projects.
The essays attempt to observe the tension between the different
forces of globalisation, which is being widely debated as a
distinguishing trend, and also highlight globalisation's impact on
local architecture, as well as the various efforts being taken to
ensure local identity and distinctive locality in architecture
design. The projects, accompanied with full-colour photos and text
descriptions, demonstrate the many successful attempts in
developing design concepts and methods to cope with the
globalisation trend while maintaining locality. These essays and
projects are carefully selected to represent diversity in project
locations, and includes locations such as Thailand, India, Japan,

presenting Asian phenomena and their characteristics to the world
but also for understanding diversity and multiculturalism within
Asia from a global perspective. In the 21st century, Asia has been
developed fast in the wave of globalisation, and the living and

perspectives: the transformation of spatial functions, the
contradiction between urban development and individual dwelling,
and architecture in the age of self-media.

Asia from a global perspective. This issue reveals how old
buildings can be updated to realise innovation through renovation,
and features three essays and eleven projects that elaborate this
perspective. The three essays discuss regenerative architecture in
Pakistan that create contemporary examples of traditional
architecture, the revitalisation of old buildings in Hong Kong,
China for heritage conservation—along the concept of updating the
“hardware” and “software” of the building—and the sharing
and regeneration of historical heritage spaces in old towns in
Xiamen, China. The 11 projects, accompanied with full-colour photos
and text descriptions, highlight architectural works that showcase
the theme of renovation and innovation across projects that include
