Dans le cadre du projet CBDAMM (Renforcement des capacites des methodes d'acquisition de donnees en vue de promouvoir les pratiques de gestion du patrimoine naturel et culturel au Maroc), un ensemble de recommandations pour les processus d'acquisition de donnees dans les milieux marins et les zones humides cotieres a ete etabli pour les parties prenantes marocaines. Cette brochure, intitulee 'Recommandations pour les bonnes pratiques en matiere de methodes d'acquisition de donnees pour la gestion du patrimoine naturel et culturel des zones humides cotieres marocaines', vise a decrire les procedures fonctionnelles pour mener des etudes cotieres scientifiques dans le contexte marocain. Cette brochure decrit les exigences, les methodes et les pratiques des quatre domaines scientifiques qui reposent sur des donnees partagees provenant de ces investigations: hydrographie, geologie marine, biologie marine et toxicologie, archeologie maritime et gestion du patrimoine. Le contenu resume les ateliers, les sejours scientifiques et les recherches sur le terrain menees au cours du projet CBDAMM, avec pour etude de cas specifique: Oued Bouregreg, une riviere a maree semidiurne de type mesotidal et une zone humide qui s'etend entre les centres urbains de Rabat et Sale, sur la Cote Atlantique du Maroc.

This volume presents the final report of the Morocco Maritime Survey, set up to investigate the martime record of the Tangier Peninsula through archaeological survey and historical research. The survey identified several significant archaeological sites, primarily from the Roman and pre-Roman periods and illuminated the region's ties to other contemporary Mediterranean cultures and economies in antiquity.

The Viking Age was ignited by the art of building seaworthy sailing ships and the skills to sail them on the open sea. The growth in seafaring, trade, piracy, and exploration that began to gather momentum during the 8th century CE was not limited to Europe s northern seas, however. Ships, laden with cargo and with seafarers who met foreign cultures, created unexpected connections between people from the Arctic Circle to the oceans south of the equator. Travel accounts have handed down glimpses of these voyages to the present day. However, it is archaeological discoveries in particular which uncover the story of Viking-Age seafaring and voyages of exploration. The World in the Viking Age reveals a global history concerning ships, people and objects on the move. It is a story that challenges entrenched ideas about the past and present, and the skills and opportunities of previous generations."

The Hjortsping boat, fully excavated in the 1920s, is arguably the most important archaeological find from early Iron Age Scandinavia. This volume forms the first English-language analysis of the find and its context, beginning with the background to the discovery and excavation of the warship and its new display at the centre of a special exhibition at the National Museum in Copenhagen. Illustrated throughout with photographs, many in colour, and drawings of each part of the warship and its associated finds, this is an extremely well-presented study. Specialist contributions examine the warship's construction and components, its geometrical proportions and hydrodynamics, evidence for paddles and its date. Sections also discuss the reconstruction of the ship, and its sailing trials, associated weapons and everyday objects. Emphasis is placed throughout on its context, with sections examining the identity of the shipbuilders, the military organisation of northern Europe in the 4th century BC, ship iconography during the Bronze and early Iron Ages and other examples of ships found across Europe. This volume is a detailed gazetteer of fish-salting production in the northwest Maghreb in antiquity. It consists of a catalogue of fish-salting sites in addition to catalogues of other related resources that are necessary for the production and trans-shipment of the industry's products: salt and amphorae kilns. The gazetteer is intended to serve as a comprehensive source book, and as such, it builds upon previous studies and current research on the region's fish-salting industry.

Just as the sea has played a pivotal role in the connectivity of people, economies and cultures, it has also provided a common platform for inter-disciplinary cooperation amongst academics. This book is a selection of conference papers and other contributions that has seen the coming-together of scholars and researchers from backgrounds as diverse as archaeology, history, ethnography, maritime and heritage studies of the Mediterranean and the Red Sea. Its strength lies in the way such diversity has been harnessed to provide an engaging and insightful study of the sea and its influences on various factors of life - both past and present.
