Everybody loves to be encouraged -a pat on the back, a helping
hand, a kind word. Not everyone can be a great preacher or Bible
class teacher. But everyone can be an encourager, and that includes
you. It doesn't matter if you are young or old, a woman or a man,
rich or poor. God has already given you everything you need to be
an encourager - all you have to do is put to use those abilities
you already have. You too, can become a Barnabas, a Son of
Encouragement. All you have to do is practice being an enourager.
You will be absolutely astounded at what it will do for other
people and most of all, for you.
JOHN 10:10 "I HAVE COME THAT THEY MAY HAVE LIFE, AND THAT THEY MAY
HAVE IT MORE ABUNDANTLY." In many ways, life is like a football
game. In times of abundant living, when everything is going your
way, you gain a few yards and make a touchdown. But equally as
certain there are times when you lose a few yards or you are
tackled on the way to your goal. So how do you prepare yourself for
life's ups and downs? You get out God's Playbook and see what His
game plan is for you. Aubrey Johnson points out that a coach,
including our heavenly Coach, "can draw up perfect plays, put them
in a book for you, and remind you to do your homework, but he
cannot study and practice for you." That's where strategy comes in.
Using a football field analogy, Johnson identifies 10 strategies
for Christian growth - things such as commitment, discipline and
perseverance - to help you gain yardage on reaching your goal. Once
you've figured out your strengths and weaknesses as a player on
God's team, you begin the task of following the strategies
presented in your playbook for living the abundant life.

Subtitle: Jude's Call to Arms Patriots are people who passionately
love their homeland and are willing to support and defend it with
their lives. The word evokes memories of people like Patrick Henry
and George Washington. Patriots aren't looking for a fight, but
they are willing to take a stand. The Bible tells us the stories of
many great spiritual patriots. From Abraham and Moses to Peter and
John, the Bible tells the story of men and women who loved God
enough to take a stand for His kingdom regardless of the physical
consequences. God calls every Christian to be a Spiritual Patriot.
The book of Jude was written to encourage just those people. Jude
described false teachers who were tearing the church apart, and he
called on the church to take up spiritual arms against them. That
call still rings true for the Lord's church today.
