R316 Discovery Miles 3 160 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Relive the decade when Reading's music scene turned itself up to 11 and really started to rock. This hugely well-informed and entertaining account of live music in Reading between 1966 and 1976 charts the journey from the emergence of psychedelia to the dawn of punk, and brings into focus the many musicians and bands - from The Amboy Dukes to The Who - that played at venues around the town. Read about the early years of the Reading Festival, lost and much missed music venues, and local musical heroes. Includes a foreword by Mike Cooper.

Carroty walked through the restaurant looking back and forth looking for a seat. Carroty walked outside to the patio and sat at the first table. The seat was soft but the table was hard. Carroty could hear the birds chirping. And he smelled the tasty food coming from the kitchen. At the table next to him was Snowy. Snowy was a ten year old, real snowman that lived in an igloo in Alaska. Snowy had carrots for eyes, a banana for his nose, and his mouth was made of candy corn. Snowy liked to play in the snow-especially snow fights. Snowy also liked to play video games, sword fighting, and Beyblades. Snowy's favorite movie was Cars 2 and his favorite TV show was "Looney Tunes." Snowy was four snowballs tall. The first snowball was his head and the second snowball was his stomach. The bottom three snowballs had one green button in the middle of the snowball. Snowy was eating outside at a table with an umbrella so it would have shade so sun would not get in his eyes. Snowy was eating his favorite food, red macaroni and cheese. Snowy also liked to eat carrots and snow. A more unlikely duo you are never going to meet. But what happens when a carrot-eating rabbit is lured into a cafe by the smell of hot dogs and meets a red macaroni and cheese-loving snowman? Odds are, whatever it is, it's going to be pretty exciting When Snowy decides he wants to buy himself and his new pal Carroty brand new kitchens, the table is set for an extraordinary adventure. Together they go on a fundraising tour so Snowy can raise the money he needs. And wouldn't you know it-Snowy soon has enough to buy their new culinary spaces. If he's not careful, however, he could lose it all before he's able to buy the new kitchens. That's because a conniving thief of an elephant named Elephante is sneaking around following him. And he's not doing it because he wants to be Snowy's friend. What he really wants is to steal all the money Snowy has raised. And when he spies his opening Elephante strikes, walking away with all of Snowy's money. What will the snowman do? Will he never be able to buy the new kitchens? Will Elephante get away with his criminal masterpiece? A playful, creative, and wildly imaginative adventure that spans continents as it careens around in a frozen car, five-year-old Austin Matthew Craig's debut story is an outrageous good time with excitement waiting around every corner. Teaching children the concept that the harder you work the more likely your chances are for success, Snowy and Carroty is an inspiring lesson that good triumphs over evil and that believing in a friend is the greatest gift of them all.
