Genome editing is rapidly transforming plant research. The
technique offers unparalleled precision in breeding without the
need to introduce foreign DNA into plants. CRISPR/Cas systems have
established themselves as the leading technique in genome editing.
Genome editing for precision crop breeding takes stock of the
wealth of research on these techniques and their potential in crop
breeding. Chapters in this volume review advances in techniques
such as TALENS and zinc finger nucleases, double-strand break
repair techniques, insertion-based genome edits, base editing,
guide RNAs and gRNA/Cas9 constructs. This collection also surveys
applications of gene editing in improving key traits in key cereal
crops including barley, maize and sorghum as well as brassicas,
tomatoes and perennials. With its distinguished editor and
international team of expert authors, Genome editing for precision
crop breeding will be a standard reference for university and other
researchers involved in crop breeding, government and other
agencies involved in regulating advances in crop breeding (such as
genetic modification), crop breeding companies and farmers
interested in the latest breeding techniques.

The main aim of this book is to develop and explore the value of
new innovative digital content to help satisfy UNESCO's World
Heritage nomination file requirements. Through a detailed
exploration of two BIM case studies from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the
book uniquely connects the use of Heritage BIM to the documentation
methods used by UNESCO and demonstrates how this provides a
contribution to both countries with heritage sites and UNESCO as an
organisation. The research and practical examples in the book seek
to address both the lack of a comprehensive method of submitting a
nomination file to UNESCO and the lack of authentic engineering
information in countries where extensive heritage sites exist. It
looks at answering the following questions: How can Heritage
Building Information Modelling (HBIM) be used to better maintain,
protect, and record the updated information of historical
buildings? How can HBIM provide innovation in creating the missing
information for the assignment of UNESCO's World Heritage status?
What additional value can a sustainable update of HBIM data provide
for such sites? How can HBIM improve the cultural value of heritage
buildings in the short, medium, and long term, as well as provide a
better future for historical buildings? This book will be useful
reading for researchers and practitioners in the areas of heritage
conservation, archaeology, World Heritage nomination, HBIM, digital
technology and engineering, remote sensing, laser scanning, and
architectural technology.
Asia is the only area in the world that does not have a human
rights court or commission covering the region as a whole. However,
a close look at recent developments in the region, especially in
East Asia, shows that a human rights system is emerging. Various
activities and initiatives for human rights cooperation are
developing in Asia at the regional, sub-regional and national
levels. Since the establishment of the ASEAN human rights body
(AICHR) in 2009, the need for a review of the regional human rights
mechanisms in Asia is stronger than ever. With a primary focus on
twenty-three East Asian states, Tae-Ung Baik highlights the
significant changes that have taken place in recent decades and
demonstrates that the constituent elements of a human rights system
(norms, institutions and modes of implementation) are developing in
Asia.
The first English-language history of Korea to appear in more
than a decade, this translation offers Western readers a
distillation of the latest and best scholarship on Korean history
and culture from the earliest times to the student revolution of
1960. The most widely read and respected general history, "A New
History of Korea (Han'guksa sillon)" was first published in 1961
and has undergone two major revisions and updatings.
Translated twice into Japanese and currently being translated
into Chinese as well, Professor Lee's work presents a new
periodization of his country's history, based on a fresh analysis
of the changing composition of the leadership elite. The book is
noteworthy, too, for its full and integrated discussion of major
currents in Korea's cultural history. The translation, three years
in preparation, has been done by specialists in the field.

In Reencounters,Crystal Mun-hye Baik examines what it means to live

notions of inherited trauma and post memory, Baik offers the
concept of reencounters to better track the Korean War's illegible
entanglements through an interdisciplinary archive of diasporic
memory works that includes oral history projects, performances, and
video installations rarely examined by Asian American studies
scholars. Baik shows how Korean refugee migrations are repackaged
into celebrated immigration narratives, how transnational adoptees
are reclaimed by the South Korean state as welcomed "returnees,"
and how militarized colonial outposts such as Jeju Island are
recalibrated into desirable tourist destinations. Baik argues that
as the works by Korean and Korean/American artists depict this Cold
War historiography, they also offer opportunities to remember
otherwise the continuing war. Ultimately, Reencounters wrestles
with questions of the nature of war, racial and sexual violence,
and neoliberal surveillance in the twenty-first century.

In part one, all modern and classical techniques of solving random
matrix models are explored, including orthogonal polynomials, exact
replicas or supersymmetry. Further, all main extensions of the
classical Gaussian ensembles of Wigner and Dyson are introduced
including sparse, heavy tailed, non-Hermitian or multi-matrix
models. In the second and larger part, all major applications are
covered, in disciplines ranging from physics and mathematics to
biology and engineering. This includes standard fields such as
number theory, quantum chaos or quantum chromodynamics, as well as
recent developments such as partitions, growth models, knot theory,
wireless communication or bio-polymer folding.
The handbook is suitable both for introducing novices to this area
of research and as a main source of reference for active
researchers in mathematics, physics and engineering.
This book describes the theory and applications of discrete
orthogonal polynomials--polynomials that are orthogonal on a finite
set. Unlike other books, "Discrete Orthogonal Polynomials"
addresses completely general weight functions and presents a new
methodology for handling the discrete weights case.
J. Baik, T. Kriecherbauer, K. T.-R. McLaughlin & P. D.
Miller focus on asymptotic aspects of general, nonclassical
discrete orthogonal polynomials and set out applications of current
interest. Topics covered include the probability theory of discrete
orthogonal polynomial ensembles and the continuum limit of the Toda
lattice. The primary concern throughout is the asymptotic behavior
of discrete orthogonal polynomials for general, nonclassical
measures, in the joint limit where the degree increases as some
fraction of the total number of points of collocation. The book
formulates the orthogonality conditions defining these polynomials
as a kind of Riemann-Hilbert problem and then generalizes the
steepest descent method for such a problem to carry out the
necessary asymptotic analysis.

It was the result of a horrible mistake the human world has made,
and the catastrophe the incident has brought, wasn't limited to a
certain death. A young couple of eagle was living peacefully in its
eyries. All seemed alright, except for their kids. One was born as
a genius, but the other, a handicap. The world seemed to be harsh
to the malformed eagle. He tried to fly, but he got lost, swept by
the gust of wind, unable to fly because of the barrier he was born

"Mr. Shin is my current writing teacher who has taught me for
almost a year. If I were to study SATs by myself or with a tutor, I
would use Mr. shin's book, "Mastering Core SAT Words." His book is
different from other publishers because he used words that were
used in the past SATs. Also it is currently published, its most
updated with new vocabularies that many people are not familiar
with. So if you are a student who is studying for SAYs, or just
looking for handy word books to study from, I strongly recommend
"Mastering Core SAT Words " Soojin Cho (Ridgefield Memorial High
School) This book contains as many as 1,395 core SAT words long
with synonyms, definitions and example sentences. In addition, in
order to help SAT preparation students memorize the words more
effectively, certain words have stars(*), which indicate the
degrees of difficulty of memorizing the words. Based on my long
term SAT teaching experience, SAT preparation students must
precisely learn the definitions of the SAT words in this book to
enhance their SAT Critical Reading Scores: particularly on the
Sentence Completion and the Short Reading Passage sections. Once
students have completed the memorization of al the words, they will
be able to start dealing with questions related to the Long
Passages more easily and efficiently. William H. Shin, Author
