The main aim of this book is to develop and explore the value of
new innovative digital content to help satisfy UNESCO's World
Heritage nomination file requirements. Through a detailed
exploration of two BIM case studies from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the
book uniquely connects the use of Heritage BIM to the documentation
methods used by UNESCO and demonstrates how this provides a
contribution to both countries with heritage sites and UNESCO as an
organisation. The research and practical examples in the book seek
to address both the lack of a comprehensive method of submitting a
nomination file to UNESCO and the lack of authentic engineering
information in countries where extensive heritage sites exist. It
looks at answering the following questions: How can Heritage
Building Information Modelling (HBIM) be used to better maintain,
protect, and record the updated information of historical
buildings? How can HBIM provide innovation in creating the missing
information for the assignment of UNESCO's World Heritage status?
What additional value can a sustainable update of HBIM data provide
for such sites? How can HBIM improve the cultural value of heritage
buildings in the short, medium, and long term, as well as provide a
better future for historical buildings? This book will be useful
reading for researchers and practitioners in the areas of heritage
conservation, archaeology, World Heritage nomination, HBIM, digital
technology and engineering, remote sensing, laser scanning, and
architectural technology.

The first English-language history of Korea to appear in more
than a decade, this translation offers Western readers a
distillation of the latest and best scholarship on Korean history
and culture from the earliest times to the student revolution of
1960. The most widely read and respected general history, "A New
History of Korea (Han'guksa sillon)" was first published in 1961
and has undergone two major revisions and updatings.
Translated twice into Japanese and currently being translated
into Chinese as well, Professor Lee's work presents a new
periodization of his country's history, based on a fresh analysis
of the changing composition of the leadership elite. The book is
noteworthy, too, for its full and integrated discussion of major
currents in Korea's cultural history. The translation, three years
in preparation, has been done by specialists in the field.

In 1961 South Korea was mired in poverty. By 1979 it had a powerful
industrial economy and a vibrant civil society in the making, which
would lead to a democratic breakthrough eight years later. The
transformation took place during the years of Park Chung Hee's
presidency. Park seized power in a coup in 1961 and ruled as a
virtual dictator until his assassination in October 1979. He is
credited with modernizing South Korea, but at a huge political and
social cost. South Korea's political landscape under Park defies
easy categorization. The state was predatory yet technocratic,
reform-minded yet quick to crack down on dissidents in the name of
political order. The nation was balanced uneasily between
opposition forces calling for democratic reforms and the Park
government's obsession with economic growth. The chaebol (a
powerful conglomerate of multinationals based in South Korea)
received massive government support to pioneer new growth
industries, even as a nationwide campaign of economic shock
therapy-interest hikes, devaluation, and wage cuts-met strong
public resistance and caused considerable hardship. This landmark
volume examines South Korea's era of development as a study in the
complex politics of modernization. Drawing on an extraordinary
range of sources in both English and Korean, these essays recover
and contextualize many of the ambiguities in South Korea's
trajectory from poverty to a sustainable high rate of economic
growth.
This book describes the theory and applications of discrete
orthogonal polynomials--polynomials that are orthogonal on a finite
set. Unlike other books, "Discrete Orthogonal Polynomials"
addresses completely general weight functions and presents a new
methodology for handling the discrete weights case.
J. Baik, T. Kriecherbauer, K. T.-R. McLaughlin & P. D.
Miller focus on asymptotic aspects of general, nonclassical
discrete orthogonal polynomials and set out applications of current
interest. Topics covered include the probability theory of discrete
orthogonal polynomial ensembles and the continuum limit of the Toda
lattice. The primary concern throughout is the asymptotic behavior
of discrete orthogonal polynomials for general, nonclassical
measures, in the joint limit where the degree increases as some
fraction of the total number of points of collocation. The book
formulates the orthogonality conditions defining these polynomials
as a kind of Riemann-Hilbert problem and then generalizes the
steepest descent method for such a problem to carry out the
necessary asymptotic analysis.
In Reencounters,Crystal Mun-hye Baik examines what it means to live
with and remember an ongoing war when its
manifestations-hypervisible and deeply sensed-become everyday
formations delinked from militarization. Contemplating beyond
notions of inherited trauma and post memory, Baik offers the
concept of reencounters to better track the Korean War's illegible
entanglements through an interdisciplinary archive of diasporic
memory works that includes oral history projects, performances, and
video installations rarely examined by Asian American studies
scholars. Baik shows how Korean refugee migrations are repackaged
into celebrated immigration narratives, how transnational adoptees
are reclaimed by the South Korean state as welcomed "returnees,"
and how militarized colonial outposts such as Jeju Island are
recalibrated into desirable tourist destinations. Baik argues that
as the works by Korean and Korean/American artists depict this Cold
War historiography, they also offer opportunities to remember
otherwise the continuing war. Ultimately, Reencounters wrestles
with questions of the nature of war, racial and sexual violence,
and neoliberal surveillance in the twenty-first century.
It was the result of a horrible mistake the human world has made,
and the catastrophe the incident has brought, wasn't limited to a
certain death. A young couple of eagle was living peacefully in its
eyries. All seemed alright, except for their kids. One was born as
a genius, but the other, a handicap. The world seemed to be harsh
to the malformed eagle. He tried to fly, but he got lost, swept by
the gust of wind, unable to fly because of the barrier he was born

"Mr. Shin is my current writing teacher who has taught me for
almost a year. If I were to study SATs by myself or with a tutor, I
would use Mr. shin's book, "Mastering Core SAT Words." His book is
different from other publishers because he used words that were
used in the past SATs. Also it is currently published, its most
updated with new vocabularies that many people are not familiar
with. So if you are a student who is studying for SAYs, or just
looking for handy word books to study from, I strongly recommend
"Mastering Core SAT Words " Soojin Cho (Ridgefield Memorial High
School) This book contains as many as 1,395 core SAT words long
with synonyms, definitions and example sentences. In addition, in
order to help SAT preparation students memorize the words more
effectively, certain words have stars(*), which indicate the
degrees of difficulty of memorizing the words. Based on my long
term SAT teaching experience, SAT preparation students must
precisely learn the definitions of the SAT words in this book to
enhance their SAT Critical Reading Scores: particularly on the
Sentence Completion and the Short Reading Passage sections. Once
students have completed the memorization of al the words, they will
be able to start dealing with questions related to the Long
Passages more easily and efficiently. William H. Shin, Author
Description: In this important book, Chung-Hyun Baik explores one
of the central issues in contemporary Trinitarian theology: the
relationship between the economic and immanent Trinity. Engaging a
wide variety of Trinitarian theologians and contemporary
philosophers, Baik offers a vital analysis of the ontological and
epistemological issues that bear on a proper understanding of the
doctrine of the Trinity. Noting that the meaning of mystery in the
New Testament is Jesus Christ himself, Baik argues that, in order
to rightly approach the question of the relationship between the
immanent and the economic Trinity, it is necessary to understand
the mystery of the divine being as centered in Christ himself.
Moreover, Christ is not merely a device for resolving
epistemological or ontological tensions, but rather the fullness of
the divine mystery, and as such, must be determinative of all such
theological and philosophical questions. Endorsements: ""Chung-Hyun
Baik presents an engaging tour de force on the immanent and
economic Trinity. With a thorough mastery of the subject in its
historical roots and contemporary forms, he systematically reviews
the approaches of Barth, Rahner, Moltmann, Pannenberg, Jenson,
Boff, Pittenger, Bracken, LaCugna, and Lee. In addition, he offers
an insightful suggestion on how the category of 'mystery' might be
invoked to resolve ontological and epistemological tensions
inherent in this subject."" --Michael J. Dodds, OP Professor of
Systematic Theology Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology
""We have had a renaissance of the doctrine of the Trinity ever
since the second half of the last century. The relationship between
the immanent Trinity and the economic Trinity has been a central
question for many disputes and controversies among Trinitarian
theologians. This book is a great work that provides an effective
way of classification of a variety of positions on the question. It
is a must read for any one that is interested in the current issues
of contemporary Trinitarian theology."" --Sung Wook Chung,
Associate Professor of Theology Denver Seminary About the
Contributor(s): Chung-Hyun Baik is a lecturer of theology at

University in Seoul, Korea.
This volume contains the proceedings of a conference held at the
Courant Institute in 2006 to celebrate the 60th birthday of Percy
A. Deift. The program reflected the wide-ranging contributions of
Professor Deift to analysis with emphasis on recent developments in
Random Matrix Theory and integrable systems. The articles in this
volume present a broad view on the state of the art in these
fields. Topics on random matrices include the distributions and
stochastic processes associated with local eigenvalue statistics,
as well as their appearance in combinatorial models such as TASEP,
last passage percolation and tilings. The contributions in
integrable systems mostly deal with focusing NLS, the Camassa-Holm
equation and the Toda lattice. A number of papers are devoted to
techniques that are used in both fields. These techniques are
related to orthogonal polynomials, operator determinants, special
functions, Riemann-Hilbert problems, direct and inverse spectral
theory. Of special interest is the article of Percy Deift in which
he discusses some open problems of Random Matrix Theory and the
theory of integrable systems.
