This study examines the social relations between Africans and First Americans in colonial Virginia, using an Afrocentric approach. The contacts between the two oppressed groups include Southside's Surrey and Chesterfield counties, where the two groups made contact and subsequently plotted against their colonial oppressors. The book documents the blackness in Jamestown and Point Comfort, where the initial group of blacks first set foot on North American soil. It examines the emergence of the new black and blacks as profit. Additionally, Afrocentrists and African-centred scholars discuss the merits of 'Epic Memory' and its impact on African Americans today. DuBois's 'double consciousness' is also revisited.
This fascinating text examines the union of Africans and American
Indians in Virginia during colonial times.
