Basil Williams (1867-1950) was an English historian who wrote
extensively on political history. In this book, which was
originally published in 1943, Williams presents an account of the
lives and careers of John Carteret, Earl Granville (1690-1763) and
Thomas Pelham-Holles, Duke of Newcastle (1693-1768). Illustrative
figures and genealogical tables are also included, together with
detailed textual notes. This book will be of value to anyone with
