Surface Guided Radiation Therapy provides a comprehensive overview
of optical surface image guidance systems for radiation therapy. It
serves as an introductory teaching resource for students and
trainees, and a valuable reference for medical physicists,
physicians, radiation therapists, and administrators who wish to
incorporate surface guided radiation therapy (SGRT) into their
clinical practice. This is the first book dedicated to the
principles and practice of SGRT, featuring: Chapters authored by an
internationally represented list of physicists, radiation
oncologists and therapists, edited by pioneers and experts in SGRT
Covering the evolution of localization systems and their role in
quality and safety, current SGRT systems, practical guides to
commissioning and quality assurance, clinical applications by
anatomic site, and emerging topics including skin mark-less setups.
Several dedicated chapters on SGRT for intracranial radiosurgery
and breast, covering technical aspects, risk assessment and
outcomes. Jeremy Hoisak, PhD, DABR is an Assistant Professor in the
Department of Radiation Medicine and Applied Sciences at the
University of California, San Diego. Dr. Hoisak's clinical
expertise includes radiosurgery and respiratory motion management.
Adam Paxton, PhD, DABR is an Assistant Professor in the Department
of Radiation Oncology at the University of Utah. Dr. Paxton's
clinical expertise includes patient safety, motion management,
radiosurgery, and proton therapy. Benjamin Waghorn, PhD, DABR is
the Director of Clinical Physics at Vision RT. Dr. Waghorn's
research interests include intensity modulated radiation therapy,
motion management, and surface image guidance systems. Todd
Pawlicki, PhD, DABR, FAAPM, FASTRO, is Professor and Vice-Chair for
Medical Physics in the Department of Radiation Medicine and Applied
Sciences at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Pawlicki
has published extensively on quality and safety in radiation
therapy. He has served on the Board of Directors for the American
Society for Radiology Oncology (ASTRO) and the American Association
of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM).
The difference in the practical approach to teaching philosophy can
mean the difference between an engaging class and an excruciating
one. In this expanded edition of In the Socratic Tradition (1997)
Kasachkoff adds new sections on teaching philosophy with computers,
teaching philosophical explanation, and teaching philosophy of
gender. Chapters in the collection share the pedagogical insights
of more than two dozen distinguished philosophers, offering
practical suggestions on such issues as how to motivate students,
construct syllabi and creative examinations for specific courses,
and teach complex philosophical concepts. Like its predecessor,
Teaching Philosophy will be an indispensable resource for teachers
of all levels and fields of philosophy, and will be particularly
helpful in lending inspiration to graduate students and professors
called upon to teach courses outside of their specialty areas.

Dark Forces at Work examines the role of race, class, gender,
religion, and the economy as they are portrayed in, and help
construct, horror narratives across a range of films and eras.
These larger social forces not only create the context for our
cinematic horrors, but serve as connective tissue between fantasy
and lived reality, as well. While several of the essays focus on
“name” horror films such as IT, Get Out, Hellraiser, and
Don’t Breathe, the collection also features essays focused on
horror films produced in Asia, Europe, and Latin America, and on
American classic thrillers such as Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. Key
social issues addressed include the war on terror, poverty, the
housing crisis, and the Time’s Up movement. The volume grounds
its analysis in the films, rather than theory, in order to explore
the ways in which institutions, identities, and ideologies work
within the horror genre.
The urban spaces of the future This book compiles speculative
contributions on disruptive, nonlinear futures of urban
agglomerations, based on research conducted on urban innovation at
the Department of Special Topics in Architecture at the Institute
of Architecture of the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Students,
alongside renowned experts, also comment on questions concerning
our urban future. The novel reading structure, which is realized
and suggested by the concept of the book, is also nonlinear:
thematic, graphic cross-references enable contextual reading in
addition to continuous reading. The enhancement of the printed book
with digital augmented reality (AR) components offers networked,
simultaneous reading on several levels and thus reflects the
complexity of urban systems. New approaches in urbanism A spectrum
of speculative glimpses into the urban future Contextual reading
structure: enrichment of the printed book with AR components

Pearls in the Shell is an insiders account of the author's time
spent as part of the OCCUPY movement in Amsterdam, Holland. Poetic,
playful, ponderous, and spiritual, this story incorporates the day
to day life of squatting in the OCCUPY building with philosophical
explorations of how our system works and why? The Shell building
was a derelict laboratory built by the Shell oil company in the
first half of the 20th century, situated in Amsterdam-Noord, behind
the Centraal railway station. Many incredible events were to be
held by the walls of the 'Great Laboratory', before it was forcibly
vacated by the police on the 27th January 2012, some 3 and a half
months after it had been squatted. This is an exploration of the
events leading to the collapse of the OCCUPY movement, in attempts
to bring honour and understanding to this great moment in history.
