Preferences and Decisions under Incomplete Knowledge (Hardcover, 2000 ed.): Janos Fodor, Bernard De Baets, Patrice Perny Preferences and Decisions under Incomplete Knowledge (Hardcover, 2000 ed.)
Janos Fodor, Bernard De Baets, Patrice Perny
R2,768 Discovery Miles 27 680 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

Nowadays, decision problems are pervaded with incomplete knowledge, i.e., imprecision and/or uncertain information, both in the problem description and in the preferential information. In this volume leading scientists in the field address various theoretical and practical aspects related to the handling of this incompleteness. The problems discussed are taken from multi-objective linear programming, rationality considerations in preference modelling, non-probabilistic utility theory, data fusion, group decision making and multicriteria decision aid. The book is oriented towards researchers, graduate and postgraduate students in decision analysis, fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic, and operations research/management science.

Aggregation Functions in Theory and in Practice (Paperback, 1st ed. 2018): Vicenc Torra, Radko Mesiar, Bernard De Baets Aggregation Functions in Theory and in Practice (Paperback, 1st ed. 2018)
Vicenc Torra, Radko Mesiar, Bernard De Baets
R4,736 Discovery Miles 47 360 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

This book collects the abstracts of the contributions presented at AGOP 2017, the 9th International Summer School on Aggregation Operators. The conference took place in Skoevde (Sweden) in June 2017. Contributions include works from theory and fundamentals of aggregation functions to their use in applications. Aggregation functions are usually defined as those functions that are monotonic and that satisfy the unanimity condition. In particular settings these conditions are relaxed. Aggregation functions are used for data fusion and decision making. Examples of these functions include means, t-norms and t-conorms, copulas and fuzzy integrals (e.g., the Choquet and Sugeno integrals).

Ajith Abraham, Bernard De Baets, Mario Koeppen, Bertram Nickolay
R7,787 Discovery Miles 77 870 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

This volume presents the proceedings of the 9th Online World Conference on Soft Computing in Industrial Applications, held on the World Wide Web in 2004. It includes lectures, original papers and tutorials presented during the conference. The book brings together outstanding research and developments in soft computing, including evolutionary computation, fuzzy logic, neural networks, and their fusion, and its applications in science and technology.

R2,987 Discovery Miles 29 870 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

The refereed proceedings of the 10th International Fuzzy Systems Association World Congress, IFSA 2003, held in June/July 2003 in Istanbul, Turkey. The 84 papers presented together with 5 invited papers were carefully reviewed and selected form 318 submissions. The papers address all current issues in the area and present the state of the art in fuzzy sets, fuzzy systems, and fuzzy logic and their applications in a broad variety of fields. The papers are divided in four parts on mathematical issues, methodological issues, application areas, and cross-disciplinary issues.

R5,196 Discovery Miles 51 960 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

This carefully edited book comprises the papers from EUROFUSE 2011 Workshop on Fuzzy Methods for Knowledge-based Systems. EUROFUSE was established in 1998 as the EURO (the Association of European Operational Research Societies) Working Group on Fuzzy Sets, as a successor of the former European Chapter of IFSA (the International Fuzzy Systems Association). The present EUROFUSE 2011 workshop is held at Regua, Portugal, 21-23 September, in the World Heritage Site of the Douro Wine Region and is organised by Pedro Melo-Pinto and Pedro Couto. The workshop is devoted to Fuzzy Methods for Knowledge-based Systems. And has the goal to bring together researchers and practitioners developing and applying fuzzy techniques in preference modelling and decision making in an informal atmosphere. EUROFUSE 2011 has three distinguished invited speakers: Francisco Herrera (Granada, Spain), Radko Mesiar (Bratislava, Slovakia) and Jose Luis Garcia Lapresta (Valladolid, Spain). Next to the invited speakers, the three day program consists of 37 lectures. In total, there are 70 participants from 10 countries. This edited volume contains the final revised manuscripts on the basis of which the program was put together.
