I'm a Yorkshire lad born and bred but have moved around the country
with my work. My first job was with Barclays Bank. I served my
National Service in Aden with The Prince of Wales' Own Regiment of
Yorkshire. I met my future wife, Barbara in Dover and later,
married and moved around the country then finally settled in
Shropshire in a village near Shrewsbury. By then I had left the
Bank and eventually took a job with the MoD which I held until my
retirement. Since then I have written bird walk articles for the
Bird Watching magazine. In addition, while working in Surrey, I
learned to fly in a Tiger Moth at the famous Biggin Hill. Later
when we moved to Shropshire I took up gliding at the Midland
Gliding Club based on the Long Mynd. Sadly, Barbara died and I put
together a book of her "Quirky Tales" that she had written for the
local newsletter and all the money made from the sales went to the
MS Society.
LIVE THE SPIRITUAL LIFE YOU WERE INTENDED TO LIVE
Finally, an approachable, easy-to-read guide to understanding
Christian spirituality that doesn't spare the details. The Paradise
Puzzle from author Ed Jones delves into the Old and New Testament -
from Genesis and the Garden of Eden to the trinity and original sin
- with an emphasis on putting the pieces together in order to help
you lead a more balanced, spiritually fulfilled life. Here's your
perfect opportunity to establish a satisfying and rewarding
relationship with God, whether you're new to the Bible or a
longtime churchgoer who's never quite connected with scripture.
You'll learn:
- The meaning - not just the words - contained in the Bible, and
how to put it into practice in your daily life.
- The Pieces, the Puzzle, the Picture and the Perspective - Jones
breakthrough four-part approach to explaining Bible basics and how
they relate to the "bigger picture."
-The magic of acceptance - of ourselves, others and God.
-The common thread shared by Christians, Jews and Muslims - and
what it means for world peace.
-Why God lets terrible tragedies - such as Sept. 11 - occur, and
what it means to your faith.
Understanding God's word can be challenging and frustrating - but
also exceptionally rewarding. The good news, as Jones writes, is
that "God has already reached out to us. All we need to do is reach
back." Take the next step on your spiritual journey with The
Paradise Puzzle.
The determination to overcome medical and personal set backs
coupled with a stubborn belief in leading a normal life is a
testimony to the will of someone not afraid to challenge the norm.
This story is not for the faint hearted or people of a squeamish
disposition but it has been written to give a variety of people
with disabilities and those who have suffered strokes an insight
into what can be achieved with hard work and the support of
care-workers, family and friends. At the end of the day you will
only get out what you put in, there are no quick fixes or miracle
cures and you must have the will to succeed: nothing ventured,
nothing gained. After all, life is for living and this applies for
everyone; not just the able-bodied.
"The Complete Poems of T. H. Jones "reveals the iconoclastic life
of an English-speaking Welshman who spent most of his maturity as
an emigrant professor in Australia. T. H. Jones's sensational and
alcohol-fueled life ended prematurely when he drowned in a swimming
pool after a trip to a bar. In surprising contrast to his wayward
life, Jones's "black book" meticulously logged a copy of every poem
he wrote in chronological draft form--making his collected life's
work an unusually complete window into the development of a poet's
craft. This exciting volume contains an outline of Jones's career,
a full bibliography and review of critical materials, as well as a
discussion of poetic technique and a detailed annotation of each
poem and chronologically evoking the poet's life, loves,
aspirations, and despair from adolescence to premature death.
