Obwohl die Werke Heinrich von Kleists inzwischen unter zahlreichen diskursiven Aspekten (Recht, Religion, Politik, Naturwissenschaften u.v.a.) untersucht worden sind, liegen bisher kaum Arbeiten vor, die sich explizit mit der Bedeutung von OEkonomie bzw. Formen des Tausches in Kleists Werk beschaftigen. Dieser Umstand verwundert umso mehr, als seit einigen Jahren - auch im deutschsprachigen Raum - eine umfangreichere Beschaftigung mit dem Verhaltnis von Literatur und Wirtschaft stattfindet, die angesichts der globalen Finanzkrise eine uber die disziplinaren Grenzen hinausreichende Aktualitat und Relevanz erlangt hat. Dieser Band versammelt zum ersten Mal Beitrage, die sich in interdisziplinarer Perspektive explizit verschiedenen Aspekten des OEkonomischen in Kleists Werk widmen.

The Goethe Yearbook, first published in 1982, is a publication of the Goethe Society of North America and is dedicated to North American Goethe Scholarship. It aims above all to encourage and publish original English-language contributions to the understanding of Goethe and other authors of the Goethezeit, while also welcoming contributions from scholars around the world. Goethe Yearbook 16 presents innovative interpretations by young scholars of Goethe's most prominent works.
