Jerry Maguire (1996)
Top sports manager Jerry Maguire (Tom Cruise) is fired when he suggests to his employers SMI that they concentrate on caring more for fewer clients. He starts up his own company, with only two clients - one of whom double-crosses him by returning to SMI. However, Jerry still has American football player Ron Tidwell (Cuba Gooding Jr), plus the unlikely support of fellow former SMI employee Dorothy Boyd (Renee Zellweger), a single mother who Jerry begins dating.

Eight stories involving the love lives of more than a dozen characters are brought together over one Christmas and climax on Christmas Eve; from the recent widower Daniel (Liam Neeson), the failing marriage of Karen (Emma Thompson) and Harry (Alan Rickman), the aging rocker (Bill Nighy) who just wants to get paid (and laid if possible), through to the Prime Minister (Hugh Grant) falling for a member of Number 10's staff (Martine McCutcheon). The film was another box-office success for the filmmakers and stars a host of British talent and celebrities.

Billy Bob Thornton returns to star as criminal Santa impersonator Willie Stokes in this festive black comedy sequel. Still the same drunken, greedy guy, Willie and his sidekick Marcus (Tony Cox) conspire to make a big score this Christmas, by robbing a Chicago charity. This time they have some help, even if it is a little unwelcome, from Willie's mother, Sunny (Kathy Bates). She is as ambitious as she is crass, so she ought to fit right in. But things might get even more complex thanks to the involvement of the bombshell who runs the charity, Diane (Christina Hendricks). With a pure heart and a less than pure mind, Willie is smitten with her. The cast also features Brett Kelly and Ryan Hansen.

Ensemble drama co-written by Bret Easton Ellis, based on his 1994 collection of short stories following the adventures of a loosely-connected group of people in 1983 Los Angeles. Movie executives, rock stars and other morally dubious characters are involved in the stories, which are generously laced with sex, drugs and violence. The cast includes Winona Ryder, Billy Bob Thornton, Kim Basinger, Mickey Rourke and Brad Renfro, who died of a heroin overdose while the film was in the latter stages of production.

David Dobkin directs this Academy Award-nominated comedy drama starring Robert Duvall and Robert Downey Jr as an estranged father and son.
