This book presents insights into the thermal performance of solar
thermal collectors using both computational and experimental
modeling. It consists of various computational and experimental
case studies conducted by the authors on the solar thermal
collector system. The authors begin by developing thermal modeling
using a case study that shows the effect of different governing
parameters. A few more experimental cases studies follow that
highlight the energy, exergy, and environmental performance of the
solar thermal collector system and to examine the performance of a
modified solar collector system, illustrating performance
improvement techniques. Finally, application of different
evolutionary optimization techniques such as soft computing and
evolutionary methods, like fuzzy techniques, MCDM methods like
fuzzy logic based expert system (FLDS), Artificial Neural Network
(ANN), Grey relational analysis (GRA), Entropy-Jaya algorithm,
Entropy-VIKOR etc. are employed.

The Indian Sundarbans at the apex of Bay of Bengal is basically a
deltaic complex and a diversified coastal wetland, harbors a
luxuriant biodiversity and acts as a potential refuge of living
marine resources. Sundarban has been in the limelight ever since
the global community became concerned about the need for
Biodiversity conservation, global warming and climate change. This
book is intended to covers a wide range of topics, from the
environmental point of view, through the various pieces of the
social and management systems, to an examination of a set of key
themes that dominate climate change and human livelihood, fisheries
diversity and fisherfolk, biodiversity conservation, community
based co-management and at last future of sundarban as well as
legal framework. Of late, there is a global concern regarding the
threat posed to Sundarban due to global warming and projected sea
level rise. Survey into ecologically as well as economically
resourceful area of Sundarbans should be finally concluded with
conservative use of aquatic resources as the best way to achieve
environmental sustainability in Sundarbans.
Flood is an abnormal progressive rise in the water level of a
stream that may result in the over flowing by the water of the
normal confines of the stream with the subsequent inundation of
areas which are not normally submerged.This book highlighted the
flood risk reduction management by integrated approach of
transboundary river basin planning of India and Bangladesh.
Ichamati River is such a river that flows through India and
Bangladesh and also forms the boundary between the two countries.
The river is facing the problem of siltation leading to thin flow
of water in the dry season and floods in the rainy season. Experts
are handling the situation and remedial matters are being discussed
between the governments of India and Bangladesh. Govt. of India has
also raised different issues regarding this river with Bangladesh
Government through the Joint River Commission (JRC). The alternate
proposal given above will not involve Bangladesh; hence Govt. of
West Bengal can immediately take up the project without waiting for
an understanding with Bangladesh.
