In the movingly autobiographical novel The Game in the Rain, Bob Irwin looks back at the sixties, a baseball game that never should have been played, and his own relationship with his dad when he was just thirteen. As the young Bob struggles to gain control and conquer his fears, frustrations, and failures, he begins to discover that the secret to success just might be never giving up. Gorgeously written and filled with rich and alive characters, The Game in The Rain harkens back to a simpler time, even as it explores what it truly means to be human. The perfect book for baseball fans or for readers of all ages, The Game In the Rain offers top score entertainment.
Surrealistic Pillow is the second album by American psychedelic rock band Jefferson Airplane, released in February 1967. Original drummer Alexander 'Skip' Spence had left the band in mid-1966, replaced by a jazz drummer from Los Angeles, Spencer Dryden. New lead vocalist Grace Slick joined the band in 1966. Both Slick and Dryden debuted with the band on records with this album and its attendant singles, thus completing the best-known line-up of the group, which would remain stable until Dryden's departure in 1970.
Bridge over Troubled Water is the fifth and final studio album by Simon & Garfunkel. Released on January 26, 1970, it reached No. 1 on Billboard Music Charts pop albums list. It won a Grammy Award for Album of the Year, as well as for Best Engineered Recording, while its title track won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year and Song of the Year in the Grammy Awards of 1971. It has since sold over 25 million copies worldwide.
Jefferson Airplane Takes Off is the debut album of San Francisco rock band Jefferson Airplane, released on RCA Victor Records in 1966. The personnel differ from the later "classic" lineup and the music is more folk-rock than the harder psychedelic sound for which the band later became famous. Signe Toly Anderson was the female vocalist whilst Skip Spence played drums. Both left the group shortly after the album's release and were replaced by Grace Slick and Spencer Dryden respectively.
