It all begins in a small town in Belgium near the French border, on the morning of the festival of St. Woelfred. There are dead fish scattered everywhere seemingly blown in by the wind. The lives of six people who live in the town are about to be changed forever. Journeys of selfdiscovery are experienced through the eyes of a magician, a writer, the town Casanova, a clairvoyant married to a drunk, a priest and a Rimbaud scholar; each seeking the answers to their individual tribulations. Despite their differences in status and occupation all characters follow a path towards recognition, whether it be of love, courage, rage, illusion or acceptance. Yet, the mystery behind the scattered fish remains unexplained. This is a story with magic and fish... and the lost poems of Rimbaud.
Kevin Allen directs this erotic comedy adaptation of Dylan Thomas's 1954 radio play. Set in the fictional Welsh fishing village of Llareggub, the story follows the lives and shenanigans of the residents who share their thoughts and dreams through the medium of poetry, including two-time widow Mrs Ogmore-Pritchard (Buddug Verona James), the music-obsessed Organ Morgan (Aneirin Hughes), good-time girl Polly Garter (Charlotte Church) and the old, blind seaman Captain Cat (Rhys Ifans).
Head in the Clouds is the long-awaited sequel to Boyd Clack's acclaimed first memoir, Kisses Sweeter Than Wine. Made up of 100 Facebook posts, the book blends prose with selected poems to share tales from the stage, from the Welsh valleys, and from the founder of The League of Middle-Aged Destroyed Men. Boyd examines the merits of snail racing, suggests what to say when meeting an ugly baby, and explores ageing, love, and death. His reflections are based on years of observing the common beauty found in people, animals, and trees all of which form what he calls "The River of Souls."
Kisses Sweeter Than Wine is an honest and absorbing memoir from a man who has emerged as one of Wales's major cultural figures. Boyd Clack is a man of many talents: a writer, actor, singer, musician, enthusiast, and with this first book picks apart a challenging upbringing in Tonyrefail, his wanderings to Australia, Amsterdam and London, and his experimentation as a young man with drink and drugs and love. This is Boyd's story, told with candour and perception and skill that will absorb anyone interested in what it was to be young and Welsh - and are now older and maybe a little wiser. 'Boyd is a brilliant actor and writer, truly unique, a genius by any definition of the word.' - Rhys Ifans 'I love Boyd's unique take on life.' - Rob Brydon "Awesome and hilarious... I cannot recommend this moving, truthful, funny and endearing roller coaster of a ride enough." - Eve Myles
A good looking man with a gun, holding a beautiful woman in a revealing dress and a crowd of ghostly figures standing beside a torrid river...hallucination or reality? 'River of Souls' is 'naughty'-a novel that will appeal to those interested in love and explicit sex, animal welfare, brutal violence, insanity, fate and magic. This book is based around the classic theme of good versus evil and how ordinary lives get ensnared in it.
