Bringing Heaven Here - How the Lord's Prayer Can Change Your Life and
Our World
The Lord's Prayer is the most iconic and widely spoken prayer in human
history. It's not only a sacred prayer, but the very essence of the
Bible's message—showing us who God is, why Jesus came, and how we fit
into the unfolding story of God's redemption. Yet, familiarity often
dulls the power of this profound prayer, leaving its deep meaning
untapped and unlived.
Every single phrase of the Lord's Prayer is loaded with revolutionary
significance for Jesus' original audience—and for us. In this book,
Brad Gray and Brad Nelson draw on decades of research to unpack these
words in their original historical and cultural context, revealing the
bold truths that can still shake our lives today.
You'll discover how to:
• Partner with Jesus in bringing heaven here by aligning your daily
actions and influence with His kingdom and will.
• Gain wisdom to mend broken relationships and stand against the forces
of evil.
• Understand what Jesus' words meant to his original audience.
• Gain confidence and peace from bearing God's name, goodness, and
glory to the world.
• Experience each moment as holy—as an opportunity for the life of
heaven to be a part of your life now.
We are called to actively participate in Jesus' mission to restore all
things, bringing the abundance of heaven to earth. Bringing Heaven Here
will unveil the hidden truths and untapped power of the world's most
famous prayer—and show how it applies to your life today. Discover how
to stay rooted in Him, embrace the purpose He has for you, and let the
Lord's Prayer guide you into a life of true transformation.
Triple bill of family adventures based on the books by Roald Dahl.
'Charlie & the Chocolate Factory' (2005) centres around an
eccentric chocolatier, Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp), and Charlie Bucket
(Freddie Highmore), a good-hearted boy from a poor family who lives in
the shadow of Wonka's extraordinary factory. One day Willy Wonka makes
a momentous announcement: he will open up his famous factory and reveal
all of its secrets and magic to five lucky children who find golden
tickets hidden inside five randomly selected Wonka chocolate bars.
When Charlie finds some money on the snowy street and takes it to the
nearest store for a Wonka Whipple-Scrumptious Fudgemallow Delight he
finds a golden ticket. The family decides that Grandpa Joe (David
Kelly) should be the one to accompany Charlie on this
once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Once inside, Charlie is dazzled by one
amazing sight after another.
'The BFG' (2016) follows Sophie (Ruby Barnhill) as she is whisked away
from her orphanage by the BFG (Mark Rylance) and taken to Giant Country
where she is immediately at risk of being eaten by the other, larger
giants, including Fleshlumpeater (Jemaine Clement) and Bloodbottler
(Bill Hader). Together, Sophie and the BFG go on an adventure to Dream
Country where they capture dreams for the BFG to give to all of the
human world's sleeping children. After coming up with a cunning plan,
the pair head back to London to see if the Queen (Penelope Wilton) can
help them tackle the problem of the bullying, child-eating giants.
Finally, in 'Roald Dahl's The Witches' (2020), while living with his
grandmother, Agatha (Octavia Spencer), in 1950s Alabama, young orphan
Charlie Hansen (Jahzir Bruno) stumbles upon a convention being held by
a coven of witches, masquerading as the International Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Children, at the Grand Orleans Imperial Island
Hotel. When he is caught and turned into a mouse by the Grand High
Witch (Anne Hathaway), however, Charlie and his grandmother must find a
way to stop the witches' evil scheme to eliminate all of the world's
children.
Family adventure based on the novel by Roald Dahl. The film centres
around an eccentric chocolatier, Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp), and
Charlie Bucket (Freddie Highmore), a good-hearted boy from a poor
family who lives in the shadow of Wonka's extraordinary factory.
Most nights in the Bucket home, dinner is a watered-down bowl of
cabbage soup, which young Charlie gladly shares with his mother
(Helena Bonham Carter) and father (Noah Taylor) and both pairs of
grandparents. They all live in a tiny, tumbledown, drafty old house
but it is filled with love. Every night, the last thing Charlie
sees from his window is the great factory, and he drifts off to
sleep dreaming about what might be inside. For nearly fifteen
years, no one has seen a single worker going in or coming out of
the factory, or caught a glimpse of Willy Wonka himself, yet,
mysteriously, great quantities of chocolate are still being made
and shipped to shops all over the world. One day Willy Wonka makes
a momentous announcement. He will open his famous factory and
reveal 'all of its secrets and magic' to five lucky children who
find golden tickets hidden inside five randomly selected Wonka
chocolate bars. When Charlie finds some money on the snowy street
and takes it to the nearest store for a Wonka Whipple-Scrumptious
Fudgemallow Delight he finds a golden ticket. The family decides
that Grandpa Joe (David Kelly) should be the one to accompany
Charlie on this once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Once inside, Charlie
is dazzled by one amazing sight after another.
Two film versions of Roald Dahl's classic children's novel
collected together in one set. In 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate
Factory' (1971), directed by Mel Stuart, young Charlie Bucket
(Peter Ostrum) wins one of the coveted 'Golden Tickets' from a
Wonka Bar that allows its holder to take a trip around the
eccentric Willy Wonka's (Gene Wilder) Chocolate Factory. Charlie
and the rest of the winners find themselves in a magical world of
chocolate rivers, Oompa Loompas, everlasting gobstoppers, lickable
wall-paper, golden egg-laying geese and chilling tales to warn
children not to misbehave. Roald Dahl wrote the screenplay from his
own book. In Tim Burton's expansive remake, 'Charlie and the
Chocolate Factory' (2005), Freddie Highmore plays Charlie, whilst
Johnny Depp takes on the role of Wonka.

Wrestling with one's calling in life is a fundamental struggle for
just about everyone. Those seeking to live the Christian life,
however, struggle to discover God's purpose for their lives and
what it means to live that out on a daily basis. Brad Gray is a
biblical teacher who unpacks the story of Samson to show how there
is more to this man than his long hair and superhuman strength.
Samson's story is about how he lost sight of God long before he
lost his secret power. It's a story for humanity because it's about
humanity. Samson was called by God to be a Nazirite, someone who is
not allowed to kill. He strayed from this calling and each
deviation escalated in degree: he started with a lion and went on
to kill three thousand men and women. Brad takes this fascinating
story and explores what it means to live out God's fullest design.
When we understand how Samson missed his calling, perhaps we can
learn how not to miss our own.
