Eighteen years after adopting his daughter from China, a father publishes the personal journal he kept during the three week period he maneuvered through the Chinese adoption system. This is a record of how he felt the first time he saw and held his daughter and what he experienced with her and the other families adopting at the same time. Ultimately it is the story of a young man who becomes a father and who, upon reflection, believes he is one of the luckiest people alive because of this gift that has been given to him.
