A psychological thriller and mystery series set in 1896 about the hunt for a serial killer responsible for the gruesome murders of boy prostitutes that have gripped New York City. Based on the novel by Caleb Carr. The Alienist opens when a series of haunting, gruesome murders of boy prostitutes grips New York City. Newly appointed police commissioner Theodore Roosevelt calls upon criminal psychologist (aka alienist) Dr. Laszlo Kreizler and newspaper illustrator John Moore to conduct the investigation in secret. They are joined by Sara Howard, a headstrong secretary determined to become the city's first female police detective. Using the emerging disciplines of psychology and early forensic investigation techniques, this band of social outsiders set out to find and apprehend one of New York City's first serial killers.

As the tour goes on, Davy has longer and more intimate conversations with Nicole, and soon finds himself falling in love with her. But can a relationship formed on such an unlikely basis possibly have any future?

Unbeknown to Alice, however, two psychopathic killers, David (Brian Geraghty) and Lila (Tricia Helfer), are hiding in the house and soon make their presence felt. After murdering one of her friends, they then imprison Alice in the basement, before acting out their fantasies of domestic bliss, all the while dispatching any visitors unlucky enough to call. The director's sister, Anna Paquin, also co-stars with her fellow 'True Blood' actor, Stephen Moyer.

But after entering the stand-alone unit, the three soon realise that they are being watched by a threatening hooded figure lurking in the car park. Trapped inside the booth, with their phones left in the car and panic setting in, they are horrified when the figure savagely murders a passing dog walker, setting in motion a terrifying game of cat and mouse.
