Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not
used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad
quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are
images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to
keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made
available for future generations to enjoy.

The problem of intergenerational justice is among the most
important issues in contemporary politics. Yet contemporary
philosophers and political theorists have had great difficulty
coming to grips with the nature and extent of our intergenerational
obligations. This book examines the historical roots of
intergenerational justice and analyzes this concept critically.
Contemporary approaches are critiqued for their inability to
address adequately such essential intergenerational questions as
whether, and under what circumstances, we have an obligation to
perpetuate the human species, the moral implications of our power
to affect the identity of future persons, and the nature of our
obligations to the dead. The concluding chapters propose a broader
understanding of intergenerational justice and the moral necessity
of establishing a tradition of just intergenerational action as our
legacy to posterity.
Designed for the three-semester engineering calculus course,
CALCULUS: EARLY TRANSCENDENTAL FUNCTIONS, 5e, International Edition
continues to offer instructors and students innovative teaching and

time. The Larson/Edwards Calculus program offers a solution to
address the needs of any calculus course and any level of calculus
student. Every edition from the first to the fifth of CALCULUS:
EARLY TRANSCENDENTAL FUNCTIONS, 5e, International Edition has made
the mastery of traditional calculus skills a priority, while

appropriate, calculus reform ideas.
"Models of Cooperation in U.S., Latin American and Caribbean
Libraries" considers library cooperation in the context of "The
Americas," a name given to the geographic, political and cultural
entities which constitute the American continents. One of the main
characteristics that identifies this region is the dichotomy
between the developed, mainly Anglophone North and the countries
located south of the US-Mexican border, known collectively as Latin
America. The Caribbean region, although it maintains its own
identity, is very often lumped into the Latin American context.
The collection of papers presented in this volume does not try
to discuss each and every one of the existing cooperative projects
in the American region. Many of the papers describe cooperative
experiences and projects in the Caribbean region, while others are
more theoretical in content and broader in geographic coverage. It
has been the intention of authors and editor alike, to compile a
practical document that can be used for information as well as for
discussion.
