Chicana/o Subjectivity and the Politics of Identity traces the influence of Hegel's theory of recognition on different literary representations of Chicano/a subjectivity, demonstrating how the identity thinking characteristic of liberal-humanist ideologies is unwillingly reinforced even in subjects that are represented as rebelling against this tradition. Conversely, alternative representations that redefine universality as founded on non-identity, exemplified in Alain Badiou's theorization of the void, are also examined. This book calls for a return to the anti-humanist philosophy of psychoanalysis and Marxism, challenging conventional notions of identity politics by uncovering the false universalities and ideologically defined differences that such a politics promotes.

Las infecciones por el Virus de Inmunodeficiencia Humana (VIH) que causa el Sindrome de Inmunodeficiencia Adquirida (SIDA) son un grave problema de salud mundial que afecta a toda la poblacion y no discrimina raza, genero o cultura. Uno de los grupos mas afectados por este problema son los jovenes debido a que son vulnerables a las conductas sexuales de riesgo. Aspectos de indole psicologico y neurologico influyen en los intereses y en la manera de llevar a cabo una conducta, por lo que es importancia estudiarlas de manera conjunta. Asimismo, las motivaciones tienen estrecha relacion con las habilidades cognitivas, y estas a su vez con la conducta sexual. De acuerdo a lo anterior el estudio de las motivaciones para la conducta sexual de riesgo, desde un enfoque neuropsicologico, es importante para prevenir el VIH/SIDA en jovenes. El modelo motivacional para la prevencion de la conducta sexual de riesgo para VIH/SIDA en jovenes contribuye a enriquecer el cuerpo de conocimientos de enfermeria porque intervienen aspectos neuropsicologicos para la prevencion de conductas en poblacion joven."
