The US current account deficit approaches one trillion dollars, absorbing 75 percent of world surpluses. A fire sale of US debt could cause a global recession through disorderly devaluation of the dollar, raising interest rates and crashing stock markets. The G7 doctrine of shared responsibility intends to coordinate regional efforts. There is meagre political capital in most regions for these reforms. The devaluation of the dollar could be faster than G7 policy coordination. This book analyzes the main issues and individual regions, including China, Japan, the EU and the USA.
This book analyzes the issues surrounding globalization and explores the prospects of the global economy, as well as the potential vulnerabilities. Issues covered include trade agreements, poverty and inequality, financial globalization, the environment, international economic law and threats to the future of globalization.
The process of globalization is dynamic in the direction of increasing integration. The effects of economic events in one part of the world affect economic affairs in other parts of the world. This book focuses on the role of the state in IEFP and also explores how institutions and trade affect globalization.
This book provides institutional information and uses analytical tools to explains why governments should intervene in economies affected by globalization. With analysis of current country experiences and issues, this book is an essential read for all interested in the demands on economic policy in globalized age.
The Group of Seven Industrialized Countries, G7 developed a new
doctrine of international supervision and regulation of financial
markets. The G7 instructed international financial institution such
as the IMF, Bank for International Settlements, the World Bank and
the Multilateral Development Bank to tighten their supervision and
regulation of international finance. This volume examines this
doctrine sometimes known as 'New Architecture of the International
Financial Systems' or IFA. Strengthening of the international
financial system never ends and there have been recurring
vulnerabilities in international financial architecture. The book
examines current practices and its consequences and how the IFA has
evolved and its alternatives. The book draws upon academic
knowledge, practitioner techniques in financial risk management and
official doctrine to analyze how investors, creditors and debts
function within the new architecture.
The failure on the part of Banks to enforce rigorous self
regulation has precipitated a deep and prolonged global recession.
This book provides a comprehensive review of the principles,
institutions and experience of banking and financial regulation.
The origins and resolution of the credit crisis are explored in
depth.

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) networks is becoming the most popular telephony system in the world. However, studies of the security of VoIP networks are still in their infancy. VoIP devices and networks are commonly attacked, and it is therefore necessary to analyze the threats against the converged network and the techniques that exist today to stop or mitigate these attacks. We also need to understand what evidence can be obtained from the VoIP system after an attack has occurred. Many of these attacks occur in similar ways in different contexts or environments. Generic solutions to these issues can be expressed as patterns. A pattern can be used to guide the design or simulation of VoIP systems as an abstract solution to a problem in this environment. Patterns have shown their value in developing good quality software and we expect that their application to VoIP will also prove valuable to build secure systems. This book presents a variety of patterns (architectural, attack, forensic and security patterns). These patterns will help forensic analysts as well as secure systems developers because they provide a systematic approach to structure the required information and help understand system weaknesses. The patterns will also allow us to specify, analyze and implement network security investigations for different architectures. The pattern system uses object-oriented modeling (Unified Modeling Language) as a way to formalize the information and dynamics of attacks and systems.
