The internet is a compelling tool for research, enabling efficient,
cost-effective data collection and facilitating access to large
samples and new populations. This book presents a state-of-the-art
guide to the internet as a tool for conducting research in the
social and behavioural sciences using qualitative, quantitative and
mixed methods approaches. New to this edition: Fully re-written to
reflect the emergence of Web 2.0 technologies Expanded coverage of
web surveys for data collection Unobtrusive methods to harvest data
from online archives and documents New practical tools and
resources, where to find them, and how to keep up-to-date with new
developments as they emerge New chapter on research ethics and
discussion of ethical practicalities throughout Guiding the reader
through the theoretical, ethical and practical issues of using the
internet in research, this is an essential resource for researchers
wishing to assess how the latest techniques, tools and methods in
internet-mediated research may support and expand research in their
own field.

This volume brings together, through a peer-revision process, the
advanced research results obtained by the European COST Action
2102: Cross-Modal Analysis of Verbal and Nonverbal Communication,
primarily discussed for the first time at the Second COST 2102
International Training School on "Development of Multimodal Int-
faces: Active Listening and Synchrony" held in Dublin, Ireland,
March 23-27 2009. The school was sponsored by COST (European
Cooperation in the Field of Sci- tific and Technical Research,
www.cost.esf.org ) in the domain of Information and Communication
Technologies (ICT) for disseminating the advances of the research
activities developed within the COST Action 2102: "Cross-Modal
Analysis of Verbal and Nonverbal Communication"
(cost2102.cs.stir.ac.uk) COST Action 2102 in its third year of life
brought together about 60 European and 6 overseas scientific
laboratories whose aim is to develop interactive dialogue systems
and intelligent virtual avatars graphically embodied in a 2D and/or
3D interactive virtual world, capable of interacting intelligently
with the environment, other avatars, and particularly with human
users.

2013 Reprint of 1935 Edition. Full facsimile of the original
edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. "Begone
Satan" follows two priests' ordeal with an exorcism of a forty
year-old woman in Earling, Iowa. The women being exorcised is a
forty year old woman who had been filled with the demons since she
was fourteen years-old. At first the priests do not know the cause
of the demons but later find out that both her Aunt Mina, who was
one of the demons, and her father Jacob, also a demon, placed
curses on her when she was young. She was a very pious woman but
the demons prevented her from leading a normal life. She had been
examined by doctors of all sorts to try and discover a reason for
her behavior but none could be found. So she agrees to go along
with the exorcism. The book is a battle between the forces of good
and evil right from the start. As soon as the first prayer is said
on the first day she jumped and clung to a wall in the church. For
most of the book the woman is unconscious and the demons are
talking through her. The priests encounter 4 powerful demons along
with countless weaker demons. The exorcism lasted for 23 days. It
was a very consuming process of all parties involved. In the book
Fr. Theophilus is said to be in excellent condition but by the end
he looks as if he aged twenty years. The exorcism is a trying time
for everyone involved. It almost claimed the life of Fr. Steiger
when Satan tried to scare him out of completing the exorcism. After
over 3 three weeks, and lots of praying, the demons leave the
woman.
