DCI Banks returns for its grittiest season yet with an explosive serial crime story that weaves through three feature length episodes.

To Burn in Every Drop of Blood:
When the victim of a frenzied attack is found in woodland, the team wonder if it’s a random killing or related to the location - a shrine to a local girl who recently committed suicide there. But when Banks uncovers a link to local crime boss Steve Richards, he becomes convinced that this is his chance to finally nail the hitherto untouchable criminal.

A Little Bit of Heart:
What starts out as a missing person case in Leeds’ Chinese community soon escalates into a kidnap and ransom and then finally murder. Banks and his team are plunged into a world of protection gangs and the exploitation of immigrants before the discovery of a dark family secret reveals the true motive behind the crimes.

Undertow:
Banks and his team struggle to put personal feelings aside as they investigate the stabbing of a fellow officer. As they attempt to nail the culprit, Banks’ actions become increasingly reckless, forcing Chief Superintendent Anderson to put him on gardening leave. With Helen made Acting DCI, Banks finds himself operating on the other side of the law, using his years of experience to crack this most harrowing case.

Another three two-part episodes from the ITV drama series based on the crime novels by Peter Robinson. Stephen Tompkinson stars as the tenacious and stubborn Detective Chief Inspector Alan Banks, who unravels a string of disturbing murder mysteries aided by his feisty and ambitious young assistant, DS Annie Cabbot (Andrea Lowe). In this instalment the pair investigate the murders of a young Estonian woman with ties to the criminal underworld and a university graduate who turns up dead in a ravine. The episodes are: 'What Will Survive?', 'Buried' and 'Ghosts'.

As we return to Portwenn, all is not well with Doc Martin.

With his career still under scrutiny due to his blood phobia, Dr Rebecca Hedden from the General Medical Council arrives to assess his bedside manner and determine if he is still fit to practise. Louisa, having resigned as head teacher at Portwenn School, is throwing herself into her new career as a child and adolescent counsellor, as well as spending more time with their son James Henry. When Louisa notices James is finding it hard to socialise at nursery, she starts wondering whether a little brother or sister would help. But with Martin having to jump through hoops to save his career and Louisa starting her new role the timing might not be the best. Meanwhile Al and Bert are making a success of running the Crab and Lobster, leaving Morwenna feeling a little neglected; Mrs Tishell has a new lease of life following Clive's death and decides to try dating again; and Penhale's authority is challenged when his predecessor returns.

However, could an accidental proposal have wedding bells ringing in the village of Portwenn?

When they decide to write a novel based on the popular 'mummy porn' genre, they contact a publisher (Eileen Atkins), pretending to be the author's agents, who agrees to publish the book on the condition that the author commit herself to a book tour. Desperate for the deal to go through, David (McKay) asks his sister-in-law Zoe (Richards) to pretend to be the author of their prospective best-seller for the sake of the press. All goes to plan until a studio buys the film rights and asks Zoe to play the lead...

He’s rigid, surly, tactless and self-centred but he’s the only doctor in Portwenn.

Even on his own wedding day, Dr Martin Ellingham cant raise a smile; but following a suitably disaster-filled honeymoon, he and Louisa must learn to live together, raise a child and manage both their careers as best they can.

It’s a big adjustment for them especially Martin, unaccustomed as he is to clutter and noise.
