Jie Liu, Sheng-Chang Li, Li-Bin Fu, Di-Fa Ye
R2,882 Discovery Miles 28 820 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

This book systematically introduces the nonlinear adiabatic evolution theory of quantum many-body systems. The nonlinearity stems from a mean-field treatment of the interactions between particles, and the adiabatic dynamics of the system can be accurately described by the nonlinear Schroedinger equation. The key points in this book include the adiabatic condition and adiabatic invariant for nonlinear system; the adiabatic nonlinear Berry phase; and the exotic virtual magnetic field, which gives the geometric meaning of the nonlinear Berry phase. From the quantum-classical correspondence, the linear and nonlinear comparison, and the single particle and interacting many-body difference perspectives, it shows a distinct picture of adiabatic evolution theory. It also demonstrates the applications of the nonlinear adiabatic evolution theory for various physical systems. Using simple models it illustrates the basic points of the theory, which are further employed for the solution of complex problems of quantum theory for many-particle systems. The results obtained are supplemented by numerical calculations, presented as tables and figures.

Baoping Cai, Yonghong Liu, Zengkai Liu, Yuanjiang Chang, Lei Jiang
R4,033 Discovery Miles 40 330 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

This book presents a bibliographical review of the use of Bayesian networks in reliability over the last decade. Bayesian network (BN) is considered to be one of the most powerful models in probabilistic knowledge representation and inference, and it is increasingly used in the field of reliability. After focusing on the engineering systems, the book subsequently discusses twelve important issues in the BN-based reliability methodologies, such as BN structure modeling, BN parameter modeling, BN inference, validation, and verification. As such, it is a valuable resource for researchers and practitioners in the field of reliability engineering.

Stochastic Geometry Analysis of Multi-Antenna Wireless Networks (Hardcover, 1st ed. 2019): Xianghao Yu, Chang Li, Jun Zhang,... Stochastic Geometry Analysis of Multi-Antenna Wireless Networks (Hardcover, 1st ed. 2019)
Xianghao Yu, Chang Li, Jun Zhang, Khaled B. Letaief
R2,654 Discovery Miles 26 540 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

This book presents a unified framework for the tractable analysis of large-scale, multi-antenna wireless networks using stochastic geometry. This mathematical analysis is essential for assessing and understanding the performance of complicated multi-antenna networks, which are one of the foundations of 5G and beyond networks to meet the ever-increasing demands for network capacity. Describing the salient properties of the framework, which makes the analysis of multi-antenna networks comparable to that of their single-antenna counterparts, the book discusses effective design approaches that do not require complex system-level simulations. It also includes various application examples with different multi-antenna network models to illustrate the framework's effectiveness.

Public Health Spatial Planning in Practice - Improving Health and Wellbeing (Paperback): Michael Chang, Liz Green, Carl... Public Health Spatial Planning in Practice - Improving Health and Wellbeing (Paperback)
Michael Chang, Liz Green, Carl Petrokofsky
R833 Discovery Miles 8 330 Ships in 9 - 17 working days

Health and wellbeing are significantly influenced by how professionals plan, design and manage the environment. This book supports those working in the built environment and public health sectors, with the knowledge and insight to maximise health improvement through planning and land use decisions. Supported by examples of policy and approaches, it focuses on implementation and delivery, and sets out what is needed to achieve healthier environments within the parameters of legislative and policy frameworks. It demonstrates how when we harness the art and science of public health spatial planning, can we begin to effect changes to the policies and decisions that shape population health.
