Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the
1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly
expensive. We are republishing these classic works in affordable,
high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork.
1855. The volume before us is one of a series designed to interest
young readers in the study of the Old Testament. In a merely
literary point of view, it might not be wise to touch at all the
rugged and simple narrative as it stands in our Bible. This work
tells the tales of David as found in the Bible in a more
interesting and intriguing manner which will interest all readers.
1853. The following review takes for granted a familiarity with the
facts on the cause of spiritualism which an English reader may not
possess. This Review was read before the Congregational Association
of New York and Brooklyn.
1855. However advanced the world may be in intelligence and morals,
it certainly has not reached the point where its judgment in these
matters is more to be trusted than that of Jesus Christ; and, those
who practically throw away the Old Testament as worthless, being
themselves to a distinct issue with His teaching. We must remember
that it was the Old Testament which was the Bible of Jesus. The
volume before us is one of a series designed to interest young
readers in the study of the Old Testament. Due to the age and
scarcity of the original we reproduced, some pages may be spotty,
faded or difficult to read.
