Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not
used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad
quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are
images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to
keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made
available for future generations to enjoy.
A climate of arctic severity prevailed in Britain throughout much
of the last two million years, resulting in the widespread
formation of a great range of periglacial landforms and deposits.
Many of these features provide key evidence for understanding the
evolution of the present landscape and reconstructing former
climate. Appreciation of the significance of periglacial deposits
and structures is also important in many engineering operations and
in understanding the development of present-day soils. This book,
first published in 1994, provides a synthesis of theory in
periglacial geomorphology and applies this to the study of
periglacial phenomena in Great Britain. The first part of the book
introduces the chronological and environmental background to
periglaciation in Britain. The second and third parts deal
respectively with the periglaciation of lowland Britain and upland
Britain. The book concludes by considering the implications of
periglacial phenomena for environmental reconstruction.
The author is concerned here with the tax treatment of individuals'
income from the sole proprietorships and partnerships in
manufacturing, finance, trade, agriculture, and professional
practice. Attention is paid to the changing relation between the
income from sole proprietorship and partnership and the total
income of owners. Appendixes contain explanations of figures and
concepts. Originally published in 1964. The Princeton Legacy
Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make
available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished
backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the
original texts of these important books while presenting them in
durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton
Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly
heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton

Every academic discipline has an origin story complicit with white
supremacy. Racial hierarchy and colonialism structured the very
foundations of most disciplines' research and teaching paradigms.
In the early twentieth century, the academy faced rising opposition
and correction, evident in the intervention of scholars including
W. E. B. Du Bois, Zora Neale Hurston, Carter G. Woodson, and
others. By the mid-twentieth century, education itself became a
center in the struggle for social justice. Scholars mounted
insurgent efforts to discredit some of the most odious intellectual
defenses of white supremacy in academia, but the disciplines and
their keepers remained unwilling to interrogate many of the racist
foundations of their fields, instead embracing a framework of
racial colorblindness as their default position. This book
challenges scholars and students to see race again. Examining the
racial histories and colorblindness in fields as diverse as social
psychology, the law, musicology, literary studies, sociology, and
gender studies, Seeing Race Again documents the profoundly
contradictory role of the academy in constructing, naturalizing,
and reproducing racial hierarchy. It shows how colorblindness
compromises the capacity of disciplines to effectively respond to
the wide set of contemporary political, economic, and social crises
marking public life today.
