This book introduces readers to the theoretical foundation and
application of topic models. It provides readers with efficient
means to learn about the technical principles underlying topic
models. More concretely, it covers topics such as fundamental
concepts, topic model structures, approximate inference algorithms,
and a range of methods used to create high-quality topic models. In
addition, this book illustrates the applications of topic models
applied in real-world scenarios. Readers will be instructed on the
means to select and apply suitable models for specific real-world
tasks, providing this book with greater use for the industry.
Finally, the book presents a catalog of the most important topic
models from the literature over the past decades, which can be
referenced and indexed by researchers and engineers in related
fields. We hope this book can bridge the gap between academic
research and industrial application and help topic models play an
increasingly effective role in both academia and industry. This
book offers a valuable reference guide for senior undergraduate
students, graduate students, and researchers, covering the latest
advances in topic models, and for industrial practitioners, sharing
state-of-the-art solutions for topic-related applications. The book
can also serve as a reference for job seekers preparing for
interviews.
This book contributes to blockchain applications in food supply
chain management from both theoretical and practical perspectives.
By using the case study research method, it empirically
investigates why and how food companies implement blockchain
technology. Moreover, it proposes a conceptual framework based on
the case findings and extant literature. The book provides
empirical evidence to verify academic findings such as critical
success factors and barriers. Furthermore, it identifies the
implementation process to answer the ‘how’ question. Uniquely,
it applies the innovation process model and the practice-based view
(PBV) to studies on food supply chains and blockchain. Thus,
building on the original model and theory, it enriches the theory
on blockchain implementation, making it a valuable asset for all
researchers and practitioners interested in blockchain adoption and
food supply chain management.
This book focuses on corporate sector development in the context of
transition economies, such as China. In doing so, the book uses
quantitative methods to test several hypotheses that are salient to
the Chinese economic situation. Topics covered in the book include
the relationship between tax management and firm performance, the
extent to which a short-term focus on tax management can lead to
long-term vulnerabilities, the impact of government ownership on
tax management impact, and the link between the co-evolution of
marketization and corruption, and institutional change and tax
management. With that the book offers rich empirical evidence to
examine tax management, firm performance and corruption in a broad
context, while permitting comparison between the Chinese experience
and the market economies.

Electromagnetic imaging has been a powerful technique in various
civil and military applications across medical imaging, geophysics,
and space exploration. The Nyquist-Shannon theory has formed the
basis for processing the signals in such systems. The advent of
Compressive Sensing techniques has enabled
low-dimension-model-based techniques to be used to break many of
the bottlenecks of the earlier technologies.
Low-dimensional-model-based electromagnetic imaging remains at its
early stage, and many important issues relevant to practical
applications need to be carefully investigated. In particular, this
is the era of big data with booming electromagnetic sensing, by
which massive data are being collected for retrieving very detailed
information of probed objects. This monograph gives an overview of
the low-dimensional models of structure signals, along with its
relevant theories and low-complexity algorithms of signal recovery.
It further reviews the recent advancements of
low-dimensional-model-based electromagnetic imaging in various
applied areas. It is a comprehensive introduction for researchers
and engineers wishing to understand the state-of-the-art of
electromagnetic imaging.
Atlas of Lung Pathology offers a comprehensive survey of common and
uncommon conditions likely to be encountered in a wide range of
practices. It begins with a review of normal macroscopic and
microscopic lung anatomy followed by practical tips on how to
handle the most common specimens received in pathology practice.
Non-neoplastic conditions are segregated into logical categories
intended to make them easily accessible to quickly offer solutions
for diagnostic problems encountered in daily practice. Each
illustration was carefully chosen using images drawn from
experienced contributors familiar with the challenges of diagnostic
pulmonary pathology.
