Artistic Bedfellows is an international interdisciplinary collection of historical essays, critical papers, case studies, interviews, and comments from scholars and practitioners that shed new light on the growing field of collaborative art. This collection examines the field of collaborative art broadly, while asking specific questions with regard to the issues of interdisciplinary and cultural difference, as well as the psychological and political complexity of collaboration. The diversity of approach is needed in the current multimedia and cross disciplinarily world of art. This reader is designed to stimulate thought and discussion for anyone interested in this growing field and practice.
Working with photographer Ollie Harrop, and drawing from interviews with Chris Fite-Wassilak, The Artist in Time is a casual and honest portrait of creativity at an older age, discussing with each artist how their approach has adapted over the years - whether working on major projects, or simply getting on with their creative lives. Initiated by The Baring Foundation, the book brings together well-known names, such as Frank Bowing, Wendy Cope and Ken Loach, alongside forgotten figures who revolutionised the creative landscape in the UK in past decades, together with artists have come to creative practices later in life. Highlighting the creative practices, working habits and motivations of a unique set of British artists, ranging from painters and poets, illustrators and artists, musicians, dancers, performers and filmmakers.
Claire Morgan’s (*1980) sculptures shake up our notion of a world neatly separated into nature and culture. She allows nature to break into the context of art by creating minimalist arrangements of plastic bits, seeds, and corpses. The artist uses taxidermy animals to fracture this supposed geometrical clarity, intermingling the artificial and the constructed with life and death. With her spaces and eco-poetic sculptures, Morgan creates a refuge for nature as still life, deftly bringing us closer to the endangered beauty and fragility of her fauna. Text in English and German.Â
