If you are a keen photographer who can't miss a sunrise or are on
holiday using a mobile phone camera, this guidebook will take you
to the most beautiful and photogenic places in the Peak District.
PHOTOGRAPHING THE PEAK DISTRICT is a photography-location and
visitor guidebook. The Peak District is a beautiful upland area at
the southern end of the Pennines stretching from Ashbourne in the
south to the M62 in the north. The northern Dark Peak is an area of
wild heather-clad moorland lined by gritstone edges and boulders
that contrast with the limestone plateau and deep dales of the
White Peak. Cut by sparkling rivers, populated with beautiful
villages, a rich industrial heritage and home to Chatsworth House
and Haddon Hall, the UK's first national park has photographic
opportunities around every corner, all year round. FEATURING: - 150

Disordered breathing patterns may be a symptom or a cause of
frequently undiagnosed health problems. A significant proportion of
the population worldwide suffers from breathing pattern disorders,
particularly in the more developed countries. Accordingly, a wide
range of practitioners encounter these problems, often without
having received any prior training in their causation or
management. This book is intended to help practitioners understand
the causes and effects of disordered breathing and to provide
strategies and protocols to help restore normal function. Fully
updated throughout, this volume has been completely revised to
guide the practitioner in the recognition of breathing pattern
disorders and presents the latest research findings relating to the
condition including a range of completely new techniques - many
from an international multidisciplinary perspective - to help
restore and maintain normal functionality. The volume also provides
an overview of the underlying anatomy, physiology and basic
biochemistry associated with breathing. Chapters then examine the
psychological and emotional variables associated with disordered
breathing together with assessment protocols taken from a variety
of perspectives - including Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization
methods, osteopathic, physiotherapeutic, and psychological methods.
Comprehensively covering a range of interventions suitable for use
in a variety of settings - including the use of techniques in
patients with longstanding pain disorders - the book concludes with
chapters on speech and singing, breathing disorders in the athlete,
and looks at the importance of breathing techniques in relation to
Feldenkrais (R), Pilates, Tai chi Qigong and yoga. "This is not a
perfect all-encompassing textbook. That was not its purpose. As a
catalyst for stimulating further exploration and for use as a
reference in clinical work of wide-ranging paradigms it succeeds
admirably." Reviewed by: David Propert, British School of

"Today more than ever, we need to listen to critical voices from
the Venezuelan grassroots, and this is exactly what Venezuela, the
Present as Struggle gives us. Cira Pascual Marquina and Chris
Gilbert have gathered the tools we need to navigate the treacherous
straits between state and movements, economic crisis and sanctions,
and to chart a radical course toward socialism." -George
Ciccariello-Maher, author, Building the Commune: Radical Democracy
in Venezuela Venezuela has been the stuff of frontpage news
extravaganzas, especially since the death of Hugo Chavez. With
predictable bias, mainstream media focus on violent clashes between
opposition and government, coup attempts, hyperinflation, U.S.
sanctions, and massive immigration. What is less known, however, is
the story of what the Venezuelan people - especially the Chavista
masses - do and think in these times of social emergency. Denying
us their stories comes at a high price to people everywhere,
because the Chavista bases are the real motors of the Bolivarian
revolution. This revolutionary grassroots movement still aspires to
the communal path to socialism that Chavez refined in his last
years. Venezuela, the Present as Struggle is an eloquent testament
to their lives. Comprised of a series of compelling interviews
conducted by Cira Pascual Marquina, professor at the Bolivarian
University, and contextualized by author Chris Gilbert, the book
seeks to open a window on grassroots Chavismo itself in the wake of
Chavez's death. Feminist and housing activists, communards, organic
intellectuals, and campesinos from around the country speak up in
their own voices, defending the socialist project and pointing to
what they see as revolutionary solutions to Venezuela's current
crisis. If the Venezuelan government has shown an impressive
capacity to resist imperialism, it is the Chavista grassroots
movement, as this book shows, that actually defends socialism as
the only coherent project of national liberation.
