'Understanding money opens the door to a better life. Everyone
should read this book' - Guy Johnson, Bloomberg Take charge of your
finances while you're still in school and set yourself up for a
bright future! Max Your Money introduces the subject of money and
finance to tweens and young teens. Broken into three key sections
– Earn it, Grow it, and Use it, the book guides young readers
through essential concepts relating to money which will help them
become more financially astute and confident about money matters as
they enter their teens. The practical guide to money is packed with
jaunty illustrations and eye-catching infographics, which ensures
the content is engaging and age appropriate throughout. As well as
giving young people money skills, the book also looks at money from
a moral and philosophical perspective, offering the reader pointers
on how to become a financially responsible person.
Chris Madden's collection of cartoons about gardening and gardeners
will raise a smile for anyone who has even the slightest interest
in the patch of land outside their home. Concentrating on the
people in the garden as much as the activities that are performed
there, there are cartoons here for everyone who has a garden or an
interest in gardening (and whether they're interested in
cultivating the garden or simply sitting in it). The characters
introduced in the cartoons range from the obsessive gardener for
whom a single leaf out of place is a cause for concern, through the
person who'd rather dig the garden than decorate the kitchen (this
is the author's position), to the person whose idea of gardening is
lying on a lounger with a good book (perhaps this one).
With the price of smartphones falling and their
quality/capabilities increasing, the consumption of smartphones is
on the rise. Smartphones have become a pocket computer and a must
have necessity for many people. People want to have access to the
internet at all times and smartphones provide this. Moreover,
smartphones offer students with a new way of learning referred to
as mobile learning. This thesis looks at how students are using
their smartphones socially and for their education which is an
unexplored topic. This thesis also looks at the potentials of
mobile learning and the question of whether smartphones are
replacing laptops. In this thesis I surveyed 100 students to find
out how smartphones affect their social life and education. From my
results I found some very interesting findings which provide a new
insight into how students are benefiting from using their
smartphones for educational purposes. My results also show that 68%
of my respondents are addicted to using their smartphone and that
many students are now beginning to replace laptops with their
smartphones for many functions.
Madden presents humorous, thought-provoking cartoons about the
environmental dilemmas facing the world in the 21st century.
