How to Stay Young, by speaker and author Christian Larson, guides
readers to good thinking habits, that their nurtured minds enjoy
harmony and their bodies long lasting youth and vitality. A superb,
detailed and practical guide to thinking and behaving well with an
aim to long lasting youth and bodily health, How to Stay Young
introduces the reader to many helpful and practical concepts.
Proper and regular sleeping habits, moderation in diet and daily
routines, appreciation of culture and beauty in art, and practicing
heartfelt emotional affection for fellow human beings are but a few
topics the author discusses. For Larson, attaining sound health and
a youthful verve is a lifelong commitment that involves a sea
change in thinking habits and outlook. The effects over the long
term can be dramatic - the author is keen to note that preservation
of youth is but one aspect. Mental well-being and a wholesale joy
of life and living is conferred to the dedicated person.
Drawing upon inner strengths to confront and overcome obstacles is
the topic at hand in this refreshing and plain spoken book of
guidance, authored by founder of the New Thought movement,
Christian D. Larson. In describing our inner forces, Larson draws
upon the personal and spiritual qualities possessed by every human
being. This mental reservoir may, with gradual development, be
tapped with results such as success, interpersonal harmony, a
serene sense of peace and greater spiritual satisfaction. Improving
one's personality, character and coping powers with life's trials
is, in the author's worldview, a matter of harnessing and using the
forces we all hold within. Most of the chapters have a concluding
set of verses which communicate the foregoing advice in a memorable
manner. Readers seeking sound advice or thought-provoking
reflections to begin or conclude a day will find much to satisfy in
each of this text's twenty chapters.
The secret of eternal youth can not be found through a study of the
body alone, nor the mind alone; it does not have its sole existence
in the elements of the earth, nor does it exercise its power
exclusively through those forces of nature that can not be seen.
When we learn to perpetuate youth, we add immeasurably to the joy
of living, and since man is made for happiness, everything that can
increase his happiness should be made a part of his life.
The first-ever collection of writings by Christian D. Larson,
author of the famous "Optimist Creed" and one of the
twentieth-century's pioneers of motivational thought.
Contemporary research has shown that optimistic people experience
longer and healthier lives, better relationships, and higher
incomes. Generations before such findings, however, inspirational
writer Christian D. Larson showed an amazing grasp of the
life-changing power of gratitude and optimism. Today, Larson is
known worldwide for his powerful meditation, "The Optimist Creed,"
and other classics of spiritual living.
But no single volume has collected his greatest writings. Here, at
last, is a long-overdue anthology that makes Larson's foundational
writings available to the countless readers who already know his
name and work.
Like no one else of his day, Larson understood the metaphysical and
psychological dimensions of grateful living - or, as he famously
put it, "an attitude of gratitude." Affirmative thought, Larson
reasoned, sets in motion unseen forces, both spiritual and
psychical, and aids in manifesting our desires.
"
The Optimist Creed" features complete editions of Larson's most
deeply affecting works, each redesigned and reset. It contains:
"The Pathway of Roses"; "Your Forces and How to Use Them" (the work
that features his original "Optimist Creed"); "Mastery of Self";
"The Ideal Made Real"; and "Just Be Glad."
2012 Reprint of 1912 Edition. Exact facsimile of the original

Christian D. Larson (1874 - 1962) was a "New Thought" leader and
teacher, as well as a prolific author of metaphysical and "New
Thought" books. He is credited as being a founder in the "New
Thought" movement. His writings influenced notable "New Thought"
authors and leaders, including "Religious Science" founder Ernest
Holmes. "The greatest question before the mind of man always has
been, and always will be, WHAT IS TRUTH? It is a theme, therefore,
that is always new-a theme that ever holds the deepest of interest
for all who desire to know. And every book that deals with this
theme in a broad, comprehensive, original manner will be more than
welcome everywhere. And we claim that this is such a book."-From
the Preface. Contents: The Meaning of Truth; How to Know the Truth;
How to Seek the Truth; Where to Find the Truth; Where We Get Our
Ideas; The Two Sides of Truth; Striking Illustrations of
Half-Truths; The Subconscious Factor; The Real and the Unreal; In
Reality Everything Is Good; Causing the Best to Happen; The Truth
About Right and Wrong; The Truth About Freedom; The Royal Path to
Freedom; The Truth Beyond Truth; Discernment of Absolute Truth.
1908. The mind of man is conscious and subconscious, objective and
subjective, external and internal. Everything that is expressed
through the personality was first impressed upon the subconscious,
and since the conscious mind may impress anything upon the
subconscious, any desired expression may be secured, because the
subconscious will invariably do what it is directed and impressed
to do.
Christian D. Larson (1874-? ) was a New Thought leader and teacher,
as well as a prolific author of metaphysical and New Thought books.
He is credited by Horatio Dresser as being a founder in the New
Thought movement. Many of Larson's books remain in print today,
nearly 100 years after they were first published, and his writings
influenced notable New Thought authors and leaders, including
Religious Science founder, Ernest Holmes. Larson during his life
was honorary president of the International New Thought Alliance
and lectured extensively during the 1920s and 1930s. He developed
the Optimist Creed in use today by Optimist International, better
known as the Optimist Clubs. His works include: Mastery of Self
(1907), On the Heights (1908), The Ideal Made Real; or, Applied
Metaphysics for Beginners (1912), and Your Forces and How to Use
Them (1912).
One often hears about the power of positive thinking, but rarely is
a book so practical in teaching the reader how to refine such
thought and use it as a foundation for achieving success. With
chapters such as "How Man Becomes What He Thinks," "The Art of
Changing for the Better," and "The Building of a Great Mind,"
Larson challenges readers to use thought as a transformational
force in order to become "greater and richer and more worthy as
individuals." This guide to self-improvement is as timely now as
when it was first written a century ago. American New Thought
pioneer CHRISTIAN DAA LARSON (b. 1874) is the author of the
well-known Optimist Creed and published several important works of
spiritual science, including Mastery of Self, In the Light of the
Spirit, and The Great Within.
